I like to watch.....

Actually, that means I don't have the balls or the 80's repertoire to successfully pull off Karaoke (even though I love to sing). I live very close to a karaoke bar (packed 7 nights a week, only in the Castro could this survive :P) where the regulars are total pros. It's fun to go watch them sing their hearts out in between more horrific renditions of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, prerequisite being that everyone in the bar is utterly wasted, of course.

Karaoke = Torture

The intoxication is an essential prerequisite, for both the singer and the audience.

I'm not much for singing, but our neighborhood bar has karaoke twice a week. Its a pretty good time to head on down there and catch the crazies trying to either rock it our or sound soulful.

I was told that I'm a way better singer when I'm nearly passed out.

An excellent reason not to go to karaoke bars. Especially with all the phone cams out and about.

Seemed like a good idea at the time, and if I knew all the words to the song sober, and I'm not a horrible singer, but trying to sing Hank Jr.'s "Family Tradition" after a couple of pitchers didn't work out so well.

Let me put it this way. If you're indulging in this while sober, you're seriously deranged.

Sang "delta dawn" oh and I can't carry a tune if my life depended on it.

Try it in Japan with the bombed out of his gourd Japanese guy who's been throwin' down saki all night. Now that's some fun stuff...

Karaoke can only be done (properly) after a few drinks. And then you have to buy the video so it can't be used against you.

I'm certainly not going to do it sober.
