Minor event as the people of California already voted against Gay marriage and the Govenor vetoed the measure.

I agree with mag, it's a big event. They by-passed the referendum route, knowing it would be soundly defeated by the voters, so that individual legislators cannot be tied directly with this idiotic legislation when they run for re-election. California should be the proving ground for dopey experiments like this.

Don't blame only feds

Yeah, this is an important event. It will intensify the culture wars, and force those against gay marriage to come up with different arguments than the due process / activist judge argument.
It will also be extremely interesting to see how Schwarzenegger handles this one.
