At the time of release (1981), the Atari version of Pac-Man was the only way to play the game sans quarters. However, the conversion was relatively poor (even after making allowances for the tech limitations of the 2600), as the screen often flickered (if memory serves), the movement was clunky and slow, and I quickly figured out the pattern for endless play. Nevertheless, as the image of Pac-Man itself has become part our visual lexicon more than any others from the video game world, three stars are earned (at least).

The arcade game was superior, but it was still pretty good.

Lousy adaptation of the game. . .there were better 2600 games. . .

Not a bad game when it came out, but was disapointed that it didn't resemble the arcade game.
