It's the after hours drunk hangout, really? Do you need to be told to avoid it. Dont go without a police escort. Fairfield

Not somewhere I'd choose to go unless it's the middle of the night. Food is basic, but tasty. The waitresses are always super friendly and attentive, even when you've been out drinking. The food is pretty inexpensive, even the giant platters of breakfast foods. It beats Waffle House.

Better than a circle K or Quick stop

sit-down mcdonald's breakfast 24/7 is all it is.

Meh...It is better than IHOP

Below-average food and above-average prices. I think everybody pretty much got Denny's in a nutshell. You can go to a good chain restaurant for about the same price as a Denny's ticket. It's a good option if nothing is open. Also, it might depend for some on what kind of Denny's you go to (the drunk Denny's, the urban warzone Denny's or the down-home Denny's) but to me, it's blah.
irishgit 11/11/2008
From the decor to the service to what they are pleased to call food, these joints are uniformly repellant. I'd sooner wash a stale Snickers bar down with a warm Coke than eat here.
And numbah`s right. This is truly drunk food. The only time I`ve enjoyed a meal here is when I`m on the verge of blacking out.
numbah16tdhaha 11/11/2008
Drunk food, kids...
MissAmanda 11/11/2008
They're good for breakfast (especially if you order from the senior menu) but I've never had a satisfactory lunch or dinner from a Denny's anywhere.
CanadaSucks 11/11/2008
Strikingly mediocre. Although it's a solid post-bar drunk bet while in college.
OceanSoul 11/11/2008
Denny's is the most over-priced, least appetizing franchise of all. The service also tends to be lacking. The place is a poor excuse for a truck stop, and breakfast - the one thing they market heavily - is even below average. The foods they serve are all of the lowest quality: bacon that is barely there after cooking, brown and serve sausage, tough steak etc.
Spike65 07/01/2008
Great breakfast after an all-night binge. Always have a Denver or Western Omlette. Good service, fairly clean for a 24 hour place, and the food is consistent. They tend to salt the heck out the food so you might want to ask for an easy on the salt or no-salt option. The regular dinner stuff is like the McDonalds of sit-downs. Pretty ordinary.

I really like Denny's. They have a variety of food --- breakfast, lunch, and dinner --- all available 24/7. I work graveyard so this place is a lifesaver. The food taste great for the price [you are not going to get gourmet food for $10, sorry] and the waiters that have served me were always happy go lucky. I think their prices are fair. Lots of locations and clean for when I have gone. Eat here, great place if you are eating on somewhat of a budget but don't want fastfood. The appetizers are fantastic. I especially like the French toast, hot cocoa (free refills!), chicken fingers, and wings. Oh, and if you are a senior, they usually have discounts for you!

In my town, the parking lot is always empty,I don't know how they stay in business,I've have been there once a long time ago,and It was dirty, service was slow,to the point we walked out and told them just to cancel the order.
PixarFan2007 09/02/2007
This was a pretty nice restaurant that I liked going to a lot. The closest Denny's to me closed a year ago, since there are other restaurants around there (Applebees, Finley's, Steak & Shake, Bob Evans).
POOPYCOLON 08/13/2007
The only way to enjoy Denny's is at 2 a.m. and drunk!
queencritic 07/04/2007
I think the menu has phenomenal choices, especially if you are bringing along finicky kids. Also, the breakfasts and large tomato juices are helpful to the adults who may have consumed too much the night before!!!!!
LadyJesusFan77 7 05/24/2007
I do go there once in a while. Not extremely good, but not too bad either.
BlessedBeSiame se 08/22/2006
One thing you can say about these guys is consistency across the border! Terrible food, terrible service, terrible management, terrible company, terrible prices, just terrible! I don't know how many times I have had very bad service in these stores, and the food is almost always cold, or hard as a rock.
MissPackRat4Je sus 05/30/2006
I went to Denny's recently for breakfast, and was very impressed. Yes, impressed enough for me to raise my rating from 2 to 4. They must have changed something, because it had been so filled with cigarette smoke in the past, even with a non-smoking section in the building. It seemed to be well-ventilated this last time. Of course, I don't think there was anyone in the smoking section of the restaurant at the time. I guess it's all a matter of timing. I had the sausage and cheese breakfast bowl -- ohhh, it was so scrumptious! Overall, a pleasant place to go for a satisfying, filling meal. Just make the whole restaurant non-smoking, and it would be even better.

I am a waitress @ denny's in Pgh, PA and have been for about 3 years. Found this site by googling Dennys and have a couple comments. First of all to the person saying the food sucks and they dont even bother trying to cash in their free b-day meal--guess what we dont have the free b-day meal offer anymore, havent for at least 3 years so how can u say the food is that bad when u havent apparently been there in awhile. Dennys is dennys we offer food @ pretty good prices. Some things are great others are not but if u dont like it the first time then dont come back and complain that u didnt like it the last time either. Trust me i can go w/out the whole $2 tip i can expect if it means that u will not make me feel like i am worthless in front of the whole dining room. And guess what! I dont cook your food so dont yell at me like im stupid cuz your eggs arent done enough i didnt make them. I know waiting for your food can sometimes take a little longer then hoped for, but how long would it take u to make it @ home? By the time u would mix pancake batter get the eggs the skillet the butter the bread trust me the timing isnt too bad. I do happen to make more then most waitress, after my raise I make $2.88 per hour so when u leave me $1 on a $26 check in which i have to claim about $2.60 for ur table how much do i really make well you do the math. I am not a slave I am not less then you I am your server and I will be more then happy to get you more coffee or more sprite as long as u treat me with respect, and giving an attitude to your server will make u wait longer. I will find 20 other things to do before I get u what u need. Also when u use a coupon (which we do put out alot of) tip on the bill before the coupon. 15% is average but if I refill your drink 10x and bring u dessert and manage to smile the whole time leave more it will make me be all the friendlier to the next table.
tekrider 05/16/2006
1. - Be hungry 2. - No wait 3. - End of the paycheck Above are conditions under which I've actually enjoyed Denny dining. They really try to keep the menu interesting and if you want the old, cheap "slams", look closely, they're still there and we be FULL when pockets ain't!
cwhite329 05/09/2006
I used to love this place but after going there like 4 times in a row and never being able to order what I wanted I stopped going. I mean really, how can a restaurant be out of what you want that many times in a row?
Ruby Herring 04/09/2006
I thought maybe the service was bad in York, Pa.only. but I soon found out it to be everywhere I went. But I think the worse one was in Lavale, Md. I sat for 20 min. and never got a waitress so I got up and went to Bob Evans on down the road.
beachgirl 03/27/2006
A last resort! I think the food sucks and to be quite frank, I don't even waste my time trying to cash in on their free birthday meal. Not worth it!
Jed1000 03/27/2006
I can't cook to save my life (that's a fact) and I've been told that I have the palate of a descriminating 10 y/o (that's a bit harsh, I think) but that being said, Denny's food is fairly cheap, the food comes fast, and it tastes ten times better than anything I could make myself, so.. a solid 4.
doobiesNhof 03/15/2006
The place to eat when nothing else is open.
Ih8rateitall 03/10/2006
OH COME ON THIS IS AMERICA!! THIS IS A ALL AMERICAN FOOD CHAIN. IT SHOULD'NT BE RATED THIS LOW, IT'S TOO DELICIOUS!
GaMinister 03/02/2006
I have eaten at Denny's in several states. The only one that even close to being good, was in NY state. The rest were really horrible. Bad, bland tasting food, poor service, prices that were too high for the quality of food. There are many better places to go.
witchitamarcel 09/29/2005
Theres a dennys in camillus NY, the only time it is good to eat there is if you had a really long night.
musicprof 08/13/2005
If you are looking for high-class food fare, look elsewhere. If you want a more elegant dining atmosphere, look elsewhere. Take Denny's for what it is, cheap food, lapsidaisicle wait staff that often get stiffed by drunk after hours patrons that unjustifably don't leave tips thus making the wait staff bitter resulting in other patrons not leaving tips and..... just take it for what it's worth. A little better than McD's and the King.... not up to par with Shoney's(they are not that great, either...BTW)
Mr Evangel 06/30/2005
My friends and I eat at dennys every once and a while. I would never choose to go there but it's okay. I would pick dennys over the sizzler though thats for sure.
sfalconer 05/22/2005
Bad service and bad food. Denny's used to be a safe bet but not any more the service is miserable and the food is not much better. Dennys Jumbo Combo used to be my favorite.
Randyman 05/22/2005
Early on in our marriage, when we wanted to go out,my wife and I would go here for cheap eats. We took the kids here too when they were younger. We rarely eat at Denny's now. But I always thought the food was good.
texasyankee 05/22/2005
I used to love this place. Whenever we came home late after dancing, working, whatever and were hungry we'd either go here or a local diner. Man, the food is delicious! Now in Texas we went 2 times. First time, the waiter was a jerk. Second time, the lady told my husband she would get him hash browns without onions and they had onions in them and she said well what do you expect when the stuff being fried all around has onions in it? Stupid. Not to mention the food wasn't the best I ever had either. Always thought I could count on Denny's for a good meal. Have been all over the US and ate at many Denny's but this one in Sherman, it is the pits!
nhhcguy1977 03/31/2005
This place sucks and thier customers are all wierdass teenage high school punks that I wouldn't even brake for as I was driving through the Denny's parking lot.
caphillsea77 02/28/2005
Putrid !!!! The food here is just nasty. Kind of sad that I even took a minute of my life that I can never have back just to rate this pittiful place. I think the last time I ate there I was 19 and drunk at 4 am or something like that.
Gy-rater 12/07/2004
Denny's is the remainder of a whole category of similar places - Sambo's, Shoney's (before they shrank due to bankruptcy) and so forth. All bad, all open all night and all not supposed to be more than they are. Still a notch above a Waffle House (just barely) and usually a gamble - some have fair to acceptable food while at others you may be risking your life by eating there. The one in Burlington Vermont can get so rowdy they actually employ a bouncer on weekends!
jakemr33 11/20/2004
Dude Denny's is the place to go for a college student. Cheap and decent food.
WarGamefan93 09/24/2004
If I was 10, I'd give this a 1. Because of what my mom told me about it. But on my way to Alabama me, my brother and my dad stopped at one and wow. I loved it. And it was pretty nice inside. Good service, good food. And Ignatius-J-Reilly is right. They do have freindly staff and another reason this is a good restaraunt is that it was a diner type of restaraunt and it was in front of I-75 in Ohio. This may be gross to all you people that don't like Denny's, WELL YOU'RE WRONG!!!
Destiny98 09/02/2004
It's ok. I usually only eat breakfast there and I love the hash browns but everything else is mediocre. As for the service, the closest Denny's to me is in Carpentersville, Illinois and they have the worst service! I was just there about a week and a half ago in the middle of the week at about 10 a.m. and there was a line practically going out the door by the time somebody finally came to start seating people. Then they sat us at a table and we asked for a booth and she said she didn't think any were any available when we were standing next to 2 empty booths! She never returned so we asked a waitress if one of them was available and she said yes. Then we had to wait around for our waitress who is the kind that only comes to take your order, bring your food and take your money. We didn't get refills on our drinks, she never came by to see if our food was good, nothing.
crazybeautiful 08/03/2004
I can't believe how cheap Denny's is. They give you a buttload of food for practically NOTHING... I ordered a sandwich once but it was pretty gross... if you mess up a sandwich then the rest of your food can't be too good. They have awesome brownies though... Definitely be sure to split one with a friend!
hotel283 06/24/2004
this place was better when the food was crappy but cheap....an odd, but fun post-night-at-the-bar place to go....trying to be fancy schmancy now, the food is quite good but badly overpriced
alpepper 06/11/2004
When it comes to a nice hearty breakfast at a fair price, Denny's can't be beat. More than once, I've gone in there in the afternoon or evening and gotten a French Slam breakfast. I was a little disappointed that they no longer served some diner standards like open faced beef and turkey sandwiches. They seem to always be tweeking the lunch and dinner menu. Breakfast: 5 Stars. Lunch and Dinner: 3 stars. Resultant Rating: 4 Stars.
Contax 05/19/2004
I'd like to rate this place higher than two stars. I like the 24 hour concept. Alas the one in Waukegan is not open until after I have to be at work. Good breakfast items, decent lunch and dessert selections negated by incompetent or rude waitstaff. Once upon a time there existed a 24 hour restaurant which had it all. Excellent food, service, and coffee. Alas, Sambo's was done in by the first salvo of political-correctness.
Carla106 04/13/2004
The only time i go to dennys is for breakfast. they have very good, hearty, breakfast good. their country fried steak isnt too bad either, and the desserts are always interesting. the steaks are kinda dry, and service depends on where you are.
aero43 04/01/2004
great prices, good food, they need to air out the smoke a little more for people with asthma like myself
DickWeener 02/01/2004
Denny's is decent after drinking at the bars half the nite and wanting to go somewhere with the friend's afterwards to get your grub on. Denny's is open 24 hours the food is decent and the prices aren't to bad, a little bit more than it is worth, but overall decent enough to go maybe go to every blue moon.
ohiotchr 01/12/2004
No snob appeal here! And the smokers are a problem. Nonetheless, you can get a great breakfast for a great price. Moons over MyHammy are incredible, 24 hours a day!
