Perhaps not the exact personification of a real journalist, but Gable certainly embodied the feisty spirit of those presumed to be in the frontlines of the media in that era, at least as portrayed in motion pictures at the time, such as 'The Front Page', 1931; its remake, 'His Girl Friday', 1940; 'Keeper of the Flame', 1942, and, I submit, occasionally resurrected afterwards in 'Ace in the Hole', 1951 and 'Broadcast News', 1988 and others. In our day and age, Gable's character might well have become a 'paparazzo', instead.
