i've never seen a more well-recieved gift than when my fiance gave my mother a painting she did of me when i was child. she later followed with a painting of my sister at about the same age. i believe them to be among mom's most treasured posessions. They are, hoever, true paintings. Easily mistaken for a photograph from a distance, but up close it becomes easy to recognixe the hours of effort that went in to them. That's what makes them meanigful as gifts. Splash some paint on a canvas and call it art? where's the effort in that? but that's another topic...

Stand back from a distance and splatter some paint on a canvas, and you have the greatest work of art ever.

Art can be a great gift; especially if it is something that you have made yourself. However, people are very picky when it comes to what they like and want to display in their homes. If it were something that I know the person I am giving it to really likes it then I would not hesitate to get it for them. There are some truly unique arts and craft items that would convey your personality or theirs.

Simply one of the best gifts .. coz Art is quite general and its a classy gift for both gernders and the uniqueness about it that it can be given on almost all the ocassions !
