The food is ok, but the service here is downright terrible. All the staff members are a bunch of ignorant boobs who act like you aren't even there, and if you do get lucky enough that they decide to serve you, they are extremely slow. They also often mess up your order. We haven't been here in a while, but they would have someone going around blowing up balloons for the little kids and they would pop about every other balloon and the sound gets annoying while you are eating. Ihop is the worst pancake place to go to, so don't go there. It's as simple as that.

Hugely overrated. If you want good pancakes go to the pancake Haus in West Chester. Makes IHOP look like a MC D's breakfast

Great, and not too expensive. I recommend their stuffed french toast w/ strawberries on top. It's delicioussssss! Though, sometimes their services is a bit slow.

My family, consisting of my wife and I, four of our grown children, my son's girlfriend and our 7 grandchildren wanted to eat at your Hot Springs, AR. restaurant as we were on vacation. It was the worst experience I have ever had in my entire adult life and I'm 58 years old. We are middle class professional individuals and very polite people. First, we sat for approximately 45 minutes without being approached before I had to waive a waitress over. We explained to her that we needed three different tickets. She said no problem. After she finished taking our order, she went to the back and said I can't do this and actually threw our ticket in the trash and walked away without telling any of her co-workers what she did. We're sitting there again waiting. I finally waived over another waitress who came over and I asked to speak to the mangager. A lady came over, not the manager and asked me what was wrong. I explained to her what had happened and that her waitress was extremely rude. Now almost two hours has passed and she had two other waitresses start all over and retake our order. Not once was the first waitress ever approached and asked why she did what she did. Another 45 minutes had passed and still no breakfast. When we fianally received our breakfast, half of it was luke warm or cold. The lady in charge never came back to see if we were being taken care of, if we ever got our food or even apologized for what had happened. They charged us $103.76. Not once did the lady come back or say she was sorry for the inconvenience or offer to adjust the bill at all. We left the two waitresses a $10.00 tip each and walked out. As we walked out, the first waitress commented thank god you're leaving. Obviouisly, we probably will never visit an International House of Pancakes ever again. And we really love your food. I know this isn't really doing me any good, but I thought I would try anyway. Thank You, Harry L. Dyer, 3625 E. Main St., El Dorado, AR 71730 harrydyer@hotmail.com and harrydyer@totalradio.us

Tacky. Cliche. But I have to admit- from childhood to college to (cough) adulthood I need my specialty breakfast once every few weeks and this place does fit the bill. If I'm travelling, this would be one of my first choices for breakfast if the hotel food is lousy or grossly overpriced.

IHOP is amazing; I used to eat there every week or so back when I used to live in Tampa. Good breakfast food.
zuchinibut 02/09/2008
Most people need a pancake fix every now and again! IHOP serves a purpose in the restaurant world. It isn't a place that I am likely to visit often, but every once in a while I'll make the trip. I agree with others that it is a great place to stop for late night, drunk food. Although I think I am past that stage in my life for the most part. While service, quality, and atmosphere are all nothing special, you do know what you are going to get, and the prices are more than reasonable.
alanlattke 01/05/2008
IHOP is a good option when a decent local diner is not available. Depending on the location, buckwheat pancakes are an excellent option. The coffee is swill, but overall you can get a meal at 2AM and for cheap.

My husband and I have been going to the IHop at 7120 N. Mannheim in Rosemont Ill 60018-3620 for many months. As Seniors we always got the discount that is given before 3 PM. On Thanksgiving day, we were there at 1PM. When we went to pay the bill, the manager stood and argued with us, saying that there is no Senior discount before 3pm. My husband insisted he call the District office and find out the facts. The Manager came back and told us we were right and gave us the discount. My question is this. If he is the Manager, why did he not know the facts- He argued with us in front of other quests. Who trains these Managers? This is the first time we encountered this at any of the IHOPS that we frequent. He bragged about being Manager at that location for 3years. I never saw him before!!!

The best thing about IHOP is that they're open all the time, so when you're young, say under 25, you can go in there and make a drunken jackass out of yourself and no one really minds because that happens all the time there. Plus,it tastes better than it really is once you're inebriated. However, once you're older than that, it's kind of embarassing to do that.

I've only been in a couple near my home and if they're anything to judge the chain on, its pretty bad. The food is average, the service is average, but the biggest problem is they seem to want to seat everyone in everyone else's lap.
caphillsea77 10/11/2007
Worst coffee imaginable, rubber pancakes with candy syrup, I guess you can't screw up eggs, Jimmy Dean has better breakfast than IHOP.

The IHOP on New Road in Waco has very poor service. My wife and I went there on August 10, 2007 and was seated at booth and given menus. We waited for 10 minutes and still nothing, no offers for drinks or take our order. Another couple came in and was served salad, and we still sat there and had no acknowledgement that we were sitting there. So we just left. We have always enjoyed IHOP but we will not go to the one in Waco ever again. Donn and Doris Gilray Sr.

I never found them all that bad, but the truth is, when I get a yen for pancakes (and I love pancakes), I'll scout out a local diner and have them there.
Yogurt 05/30/2007
This place is always a little shady. I've been told that the old A-frame locations have a lot of rodent problems. I've also heard of spitting contests in the pancake batter bucket.
conaseur 02/24/2007
Food is acceptable but on the expensive side, pancakes are overpriced, have a senior menu, which is not that cheap, service is usually good.
jycmba 12/04/2006
I agree that this chain can vary greatly in quality / level of service; overall, food is usually pretty good - especially their namesake.. have to admit that Original Pancake House would be better for food itself but these are harder to find
BlessedBeSiame se 08/22/2006
Was there while down in TN, and I would rather not go there again. Service was not good, food was alright.
cwhite329 05/09/2006
No complaints here. I like their food and the staff looks way better than the staff at a huddle house or a waffle house. Looks like they pick anybody off the street to serve you food. The newer restaurants are nice and airy. Alot of the old ones are too small and cramped so I usually go to the new ones.
X Factor Z 03/28/2006
Not so bad anymore, they have some nice new shops, a little expensive but who isn't knowadays. The menu is not too bad, good variety. The commercials for this outfit are stupid and corny though.
ihopit 03/26/2006
I actually work at the IHOP in bridgeview, IL and I disagree with just about 80 percent of the people's responses about IHOP. I do not know what IHOP everyone is going to, but I know that where I am we treat everyone with respect, and the breakfast has to be out within atleast 20 minutes, dinners in 30. If our service is poor, you get fired. Many of my co-workers have, especially after the whole "secret Shopper" thing came out! Our store has had very minimal complaints. And when its busy, it gets very busy. So those of you that are complaining about the wait in the morning... Its your own fault for waiting that long. Call and reserve a table when you know it will be packed! Other than that, I have dined there before I started working there, and I still continually go to other IHOPs too. The pancakes are really no different than anywhere else, but the rest of their menu is something I highly suggest, and not because I'm paid to.
doobiesNhof 03/15/2006
I just eat the breakfast foods but not very often at all.

Only place that serves boisonberry syrup anymore.
MariusQelDroma 01/02/2006
Three words: bottomless coffee pot. Great for us college types who have a ton of studying to do, and good food to boot. I have enjoyed a Denver omelete once every couple of months (budgetary constraints) without fail, and it's so big, I have to make a second meal out of it back at home. I also catch a pork chop dinner there from time to time, and those chops melt like butter. Easily cut with a fork and moist clean through. The price isn't too bad, either, for how much you get. :)
Jimmie 01/02/2006
We have a new IHOP that opened last year. We tried breakfast there and it took nearly 2 hours to get our orders and we had to listen to all the waitress' problems. We won't go back. If you want breakfast go to a local cafe, especially one with lots of pickups out front. These chain places just don't measure up.
Coop Dagger 09/04/2005
Yum. A place that serves brakefast at 8:00? Brillent.
musicprof 08/13/2005
I love breakfast. My favorite meal. This place gives breakfast a bad name. Honestly, almost everything on their menu tastes the same. I suggest learning to cook your own breakfast as opossed to eating here.
iluvfhandafhv 07/30/2005
I like the IHOP restaurant in my hometown. Their food is very good, but their pancakes could be improved. The pancakes I get peel in layers and they're usually mushy. But their scrambled eggs and their stuffed French toast are excellent! My family and I eat there every so often. I hope their stuffed French toast stays on their menu for years to come. Other than the way IHOP usually makes their pancakes, I have no complaints.
BugahaNE 06/12/2005
The place to go out for breakfast. Have never had a bad meal, but i honestly have never had anything there but breakfast food.
sfalconer 05/22/2005
The pancakes are great and so is most of the other breakfast items. The new stores are really nice and clean but have no atmosphere. The older stores need remodeling and in most cases are to small.
texasyankee 05/22/2005
Yuck. One opened up near us and we decided to go one morning. It was awful. The pancakes tasted like those freezer pancakes. Real thick and rubbery, also not very hot. The butter didn't melt. We were packed in like sardines so I nearly couldn't get out of my seat. I hated it.
nhhcguy1977 03/31/2005
The food sucks and the customers are all scumbags!
Randyman 02/20/2005
Simply not what they used to be. I don't know what happened. Every year they seem to go downhill just a little more.
Specialboothvi cJr. 01/10/2005
Really good place to go. Why eat lame cereal while you have this place? Well too bad my local IHOP closed.
Gy-rater 12/07/2004
My experiences with IHOP have varied from good to poor. Their pancakes are good, but so are other chains'. Their menu is decently priced, but non-distinctive. It's funny when some of these chains start out in a segment that is tiny to narrow (pancakes, for example) and then change their focus because they wake up and realize how they have painted themselves into a corner. Friendly's, Perkins, Houston's are similar examples. It's also sad because instead of staying or at least concentrating on the original idea, which was usually quite good, they lose that focus and become mediocre at best.
PRstate51lady 11/24/2004
My experience in the US was excellent but unfortunatelly IHOP had not a successful start up in Puerto Rico and had to close. We are still wanting to have IHOP here.
LanceRoxas 11/18/2004
Getting progressively worse and worse. Is it me or are the portion sizes shrinking over the years... I don't think they're serving the meals on bigger plates I know that. Not only that it takes 3 days to get your meal after you order. There's always waits on weekends and it just isn't worth it whatsoever. Go to Perkins or a diner.
Yobsthead 11/18/2004
German pancakes! Pigs in a blanket! Rooti-tooti fresh and fruity! Never had bad service at an IHOP.
Daccory 10/27/2004
Same tasteless fare but ok if you're starving. Just look at how many chain restaurants the country has! Astounding! Why so many? Patronise your independent restaurants so we can get away from this corporate gruel!
lexilexi 07/22/2004
I work at an IHOP, and im a super nice waitress, im seriously running back and forth non-stop during my work day..however..people make mistakes!! when IHOP is full on a Sunday morning, mistakes are bound to happen, and it bothers me that people get all wound up..IHOP is not a high class restaurant..if you leave us 2 dollar tips...expect that kind of service...anyhow, our food is great and we are extremely clean, and we constantly have secret shoppers so we're always doing our best
Molfan 07/22/2004
IHOP is a decent place to eat for a family on a budget. That is important to us since our kids are older and now on the adult menus, we need to find restaurants that offer good deals on their food. So far our meals have good tasting and we get a good amount of food. They offer a lot to choose from.and even at night you can still order off the breakfast menu if you choose. In our area IHOP offers coupons for buy one meal get one free. A big plus for our family since it is a treat for us to get to go out for dinner. YOu are not going to get fancy meals here, but you can get some decent meals at IHOP.Although our kids are no longer on the childrens menu IHOP offers a nice menu for children.

God bless you Americans and your passion for breakfast. Truly, you are the masters of that meal....oh and ihopforuhopforihop or whatever the hell your name is YOU WORK AT IHOP. YOU MAKE MINIMUM WAGE. YOU ARE A TROGLODYTE. NOW SHUT UP AND GET ME SOME BLUEBERRY SYRUP DAMMIT
swmodruid 06/21/2004
We ate at the IHOP in Branson, Missouri a couple of weeks ago. First of all, when I go in to sit down and have breakfast, I don't want to feel like I'm in a fast food joint. They have the cheap tables all jammed in together. It's noisy, and way too crowded for comfort. Second, I expect something resembling service. It took forever for the waitress to get there. Then, after a 20 minute wait for our food, they forgot our 11 year old's meal completely. She said it would be 2 minutes to get it. It was 7. By that time we had discovered that my wife's over hard eggs were runny, and when the overdue meal finally got there it had over easy eggs, instead of scrambled like we had ordered. When I complained to the manager I got the usual sorry speech and no offer to do anything about it. I will never step foot in an IHOP again. Period.
just4love 05/20/2004
If I were to be paid a dollar for each complaint I have made at IHOP, then I would be the richest man alive. Not more than Bill Gates or the idiot who invented the Monopoly game, but close to it. I couldnt agree any more with cynical_2_a_t. That was a very rude and not so very nice thing to say about us the customers. In fact, I DO think that he should sue ihopanduhopforihop for all he's worth. What a case on Judge Judy, or People's Court, maybe even Judge Joe Brown!!
cynical_2_a_T 04/30/2004
Ihop has to be the crappiest places I have ever eaten in my life. I have eaten at the one in Denver (Colorado) and they have the worst taste in food ever. I think, by far Ihop is gross and disgusting. Their ommelettes are disgusting, and they do not know how to make a crispy piece of bacon. I got a piece that was still runny, and very flimsy, not thin and crispy how we all like it! For your (Ihopanduhopforihop) comment on how we are all just narcissiticly impossible to live with-cant be happy for anything-even if your life depended on it-god forsaken-hell bent on making your reputation BAD-picky-eccentric-unhappy people. Because we are just needing some good service. That is false, and I could sue you for all youve got for that comment!
dkrome 04/26/2004
I love the IHOP in Rome, Georgia. I always get fast and friendly service and great food in a clean setting. I espcially like it when I have a discount coupon to save a buck or two.
ihopanduhopfor ihop 04/25/2004
Okay, well first I would like to say... is that I am a proud employee of the IHOP in Grand Junction, CO... it has to be one of the greatest places and working environments as well. Everyone is friendly, and yeah... we occasionally get a couple picky eaters but on average, 92% of our customers come back time and time again happy, and will always leave happy. Like the motto is... Come Hungry... Leave Happy! and thats one of the most important aspects that we live up to in our chain. Furthermore, I would like to describe my frustration at all you who just happen to be narcissiticly impossible to live with-cant be happy for anything-even if your life depended on it-god forsaken-hell bent on making our reputation BAD-picky-eccentric-unhappy people. You cant accept anything as gold or silver, because you are always expecting the higher standards that you cannot always get. You cannot have your cake and eat it too! Im sorry, but in my family I have always been taught to respect my peers, respect the things I do, and lastly respect myself!! I cannot stress enough of this following comment that some other person left: 3. tvtator , on 3/27/2004 5:16:00 PM, said: The IHOPs as it is known now that I've been in has some of the worst service. The waitresses are either dumb or rude. I've only had breakfast their, and their eggs, bacon and sausage isn't anything to praise about. But they make the best pancakes(delicious with fruit toppings and different syrups). Their crepes are very good, and so is their french toast(their stuffed french toast is to die for) Well... Id like to thank you for being at least a little courteous of our stuffed french toast. But... listen up... we are not dumb schmoes that work for a poorly staffed corporation or franchise. We happen to be one of the most respect of all Breakfast serving diners. And for your information, our servers are not dumb or rude. They might just be afraid to offend you higher class & picky-eccentricitical people, because she or he is proud of where they work, so may show a little shyness. They care too much about offending and causing trouble with you negative, and undeterminable-outstandingly witty customers who cannot praise anything... cut them some slack... and another thing: you say quote you've only eaten their (THERE) and their (THERE) servers are either 'dumb or rude' I happen to think much less of you know, because you must be just as less educated as you think our servers are because everybody knows that THEIR and THERE mean two whole different things... (well except maybe a second grader... but I do not know the highest level of education that you have completed now, so dont get me wrong!!). I happen to think that there are some people that just get a kick out of knocking a restaurant's business because maybe their newly hired server is just a tad shy, or their potato isnt baked to there expectations. But alas, their are other people that happen to enjoy there visit, and prosper each moment in our positive atmosphere. I hope you understand where us dumb and rude International House of Pancakes employees come from, since some people just do not have the patience to look at our hard work in trying to be only kind and curteous, since evidently only some people ARENT BLIND to see our hard personalities at work!
