Generally Steve Mariucci was a good coach when he was with the 49ers. Detroit's management ruined any chance for him to be successful in Detroit.

He has been fired.

Dear Mr. Mariucci, I am a lady that will watch the Lions when everyone wants to turn you off. But, something is not right: I feel that this is the way to inproved your team:hire a veteran quaterback that knows how to win. 2: Change your mind and do things in a different manner, they are not going to listen to things you are saying because they know that they cannot win. 3: With all things are done, start over with a new defensive and offensive package because the old way from the 49's is not for the Detroit Lions. You need to improve on your way of thinking, you can be great, but,it will never happen unless you make the changing that are necessary to make a good team--great. It is possible if you believe..Thank you for your time. Good luck and remember starting over can be the pits but new ideas will flourishes and makes your team a heck-of-a-lot better. Darnelle lozito someone that stays on the channel until the end.

Lions stink.

What did he do with the 49'ers that coaches didn't already do and do better? I'm only giving him a 1 because he's definitely not the best coach in the league.

After years of hiring no name coaches with no past (With the exception of Bobby Ross, that has been what the Lions have done), the Lions needed Mariucci last offseason. The man really knows how to coach, and bring a group of guys together. That, and some nifty moves made (suprisingly, I might add) by Matt Millen could make Steve's sophomore season in Detroit a suprise for the NFL.
