 | HotGravee (0) 12/03/2006 | A well-intentioned King who was cruelly treated by those he loved and trusted most. He believed in religious toleration for ALL his subjects, yet the "establishment" used the fear over catholicism as a "reason" for committing treason and "inviting" a foreign force to invade their own country!
He was centuries ahead of his time. He apparently even made a speech in which he mentioned that racial intolerance was just as unfair as religious, yet for centuries has been treated with contempt by too many so-called historians.
Actually the LAST true King of England.

 | GenghisTheHun (168) 09/15/2005 | James is NOT king of the United Kingdom. England and Scotland were not melded into Great Britain until 1707. He was the brother of Charles II and a great warrior. New York is named after him since he was the Duke of York when the English took it over.
He became a Catholic and lost his throne to his daughter, Mary II, and son-in-law, William III, who stole it from him.
