Some of the most fattening but delicious food ever!! Great taste, usually a short line. The bartenders are friendly and helpful!

Seeing really, the people at the Fremont restaurant were good and freindly. The one thing that I may find haunting is the bread- when I ask for another, they bring it on a knife blade and away from them. Now I have not had any of the meats (ordered noodles with light sauce [$9.99] and potato soup[$2.99]), but the side the serve first was very filling. Though it is unusual practice, I did not mind and the food I ordered was deilicious. They are more of a dinner restaurant since they open later in the day, but I did not mind that much either. What I do mind are how expensive the prices are, but I figure that the cost seems fair when one does realize how filling their entrees are.I do like the chain, and it is international, even in Austraila and New Zealand, and they may be proud to have this represent some of their flavor in other countries. I know the many negatives on this list, but at least if I ignore what they say, I will find my tastes and will see if they are worthy of bad ratings. To me, this one does not, because it somewhat reminds me about how Sizzler does its foods.

After working in an outback for several years i have discovered that there are more ways to get around sanitation standards and expiration dates of food than i ever thought possible! rotten shrimp? just rinse it in cold water. chicken turning green? rinse it in cold water. drop something on the floor? rinse it in cold water, toss it on the grill for 10 sec. and sell. need to clean something? you only get one rag a day and have to use it to clean everything, whether or not the rag has raw chicken or shrimp on it. But we ran out of sanitizer 4 days ago, just rinse it in cold water. And this whole thing about fresh in house prepped food? straight bullsh*t! the only things not frozen are the steaks. Yes the dressings are made in house, but all they do is mix a spice pack with several gallons of mayo. Left over food at the end of the night? guess what, its kept and reused until its gone, be it one day or a week. Outback doesn't care about its customers just the $$$$$. Go somewhere else, and you'll no doubt have a better dinner.

They had their 15 minutes of fame, it's like a fancy ponderosa.

About three years ago I'd have rated this a 4. Now, it seems to be about a 2.5 or 3. It's a steakhouse, Yet, the last 3 meals I've had the steak I've had has been poorer quality... gristled and tough. I think they're slipping and becoming more 'low end'. I hope they don't slip as far as Ryan's has over the years...

That bloomin onion is sooo good! I think it's a pretty good steak for the price. It's not all fancy either so you can just go as you are and enjoy the food! The cheese fries are sooo good too but they pack in around 2000 calories by themselves. Wow. You can easily split them with a few people since they give you a whole mound of em.

I love Outback. The steaks are fantastic and I loved the prime rib. The service is usually great, too. The bread there is not bad, either. I definitely recommend Outback Steakhouse any time you want some steak.

I absolutely adore Outback Steakouse! I always use Call Ahead seating, so the most I have ever waited for a table was five minutes tops. The servers are always so nice and courteous. The food is always top of the line and so fresh and delicious! I always get the same thing: the 6oz. sirloin steak "Outback Special" with sauteed French green beans, mashed potatoes, and an iceberg wedge salad to start - the best salad I have ever eaten, hands down. And the best steak! I was a vegetarian for almost 11 years and the first time I had eaten meat after that was a juicy, delicious Outback steak! Since then, I've been eating lots of meat and loving every bite of it! I'm not even kidding, Outback made me a meat-eater again! Oh yes, and I also tried the pan-seared sashimi grade Ahi tuna filet with wasabi vinaigrette dipping sauce. I'm not a huge fish fan, but it was so good! Raw in the middle and still tasted just like a juicy char-broiled steak. Delicious.I have also noticed that their servers will do anything they can to accomodate their guests. I went to the Outback Steakhouse in North Haven, CT once with my friend who had fallen very ill with a stomach bug right after we had ordered our food. Halfway through our cocktails he was stuck in the bathroom and my server came over and asked if he was okay. I told her that I wasn't sure and I think I needed to take him home so she brought out two HUGE styrofoam cups filled with soda capped with a lid and some straws, two steaks with two huge portions each of mashed potatoes and green beans, two iceberg wedge salads, two loaves of the bread they give you to start your meal with some butter, and two pieces of TO-DIE-FOR "Cheesecake Olivia" with raspberry and chocolate sauce (all food was piping hot in separate to-go containers, and the cheesecake was perfectly chilled in a container as well). And the kicker - she only charged us for the steak dinners (steak, potatoes and green beans)! Yes, you read right. We got drinks to go, dessert, bread and two huge side salads for free!!!! Oh, and she didn't charge for the cocktails!!!! :) I immediately got the manager to come over to our table and told him how impressed I was with the superb service and compassion I was receiving from our waitress and the entire establishment for going above and beyond the call of duty. The entire meal ended up only costing me $19.90, and I left her a $14 dollar tip for being so nice. And still, even with that big tip, the meal did not cost as much as it would have if she charged for everything we ordered (without dessert, too because we didn't order that).I highly recommend paying a visit to the Outback Steakhouse on Washington Ave. in North Haven, CT. It's right in the Big Y parking lot plaza and is SO VERY WORTH IT. I go there every time I can now. I love it!Go Outback!

My review is based on El Paso, TX. Me and my husband decided to try this Outback out after a days worth of shopping. The customer service was fine and the food didn’t taste horrible or anything, but obviously it was prepared wrong because about 2 hours after returning home my husband complained that is stomach was cramping up so he laid down for a few hours, by midnight or so he was really sick from food poisoning. He spent the next couple of hours on/over the toilet, it was horrible to watch. Not to mention though not as sever as his was, the next morning I was also feeling the effects-minus the throwing up. I would advise taking your family somewhere else if you’re looking for somewhere here. For us it’s just a bad memory, but I wouldn’t want that to happen to my child. And from reading some of these reviews people also had issues with undercooked food-

My opinion is based on the location on Bethel Road in Columbus, Ohio. I had never eaten at the Outback before. The people were very friendly but the waiter went on and on about the "world famous bread". He brought the bread and it looked like a brown sub bun. We tasted this world famous bread and it had no taste! Okay, where is the hook here? It really had no taste. You coulld have blindfolded us and served us a plain hotdog bun and it would have been the same. My wife and myself both tried to figure it out but still, no taste. The butter was watery, tasted like cheap butter. We gave it up and didn't eat it. The rest of the meal? Was okay, nothing much to say. On the salty side maybe. So I get home and try to figure out how this nothign bread is world famous and I see lots of rants about how great it is. Honey wheat bread with honey butter? Not at the location I was at. If the bread in Columbus Ohio had honey in it, it was a tiny, tasteless drop and the honey butter? No way. That was some cheap cut down butter, nothing close to any honey butter. That location is either doing things on the cheap or they are getting ripped off by their supplier.

Hmmmm... While the overall tone here seems pretty negative, call me one of those rare folks who really enjoys the Outback. First off, I absolutely love their wings appetizer (the onion loaf is mighty tasty too). Then, their salads, steaks and walkabout soup are on my "A-List" as well.

This Saint Patrick's day (2009) I went to the Outback in Grandville, Michigan, for dinner. The first thing that hit me it was dark and dreary, "not the ambiance for an enjoyable meal." I was going to leave but my daughter wanted to try the food; she has never eaten at an Outback.I sat down with my son and daughter and ordered our drinks, I asked my waitress how much for a beer and she didn't know. This really upset me but ordered the beer any way, a 21oz Bud. I had stopped into this location with my son for lunch about a year ago and had a great burger. I had been raving about the burger and this time brought my daughter as well. We ordered the Bloomin' Onion, I had a beer and the kids ordered pop and water. When the waitress came back to take the order both my son and I asked for medium-rare hamburgers and my daughter ordered the 6oz sirloin "on special." The burgers arrived over-cooked and the buns were dry; the french fries were too salty and I had to send mine back, "I simply could not eat them." It took 15 or more minutes for the new fries to arrive. I asked her if I were being punished for sending the salty ones back, and received a dry reply that "the kitchen was busy," (obviously with orders more important than mine) "but they were only at about 1/8 capacity." Well when the bill came I had spent 39.95 on two burgers, the 6oz special, 2-beers, 1-pop, a water and the Bloomin' Grease Ball, "they call and onion." My son and I ate most of the onion and felt sick later. My daughter enjoyed her steak but did not eat her fries, "too salty as well." The beers turned out to cost $4.25 each; when I got the bill I was shocked at the price and now I know why she played dumb, "Bill Gates wouldn't pay that much for a beer in this joint." If I were observant I would have put 2 & 2 together and realized that Carraba's, Logan's, Texas Roadhouse, Max & Erma's and several other grills that surround this place, were packed. The reason we chose Outback is "the parking lot was virtually empty" and I far as I am concerned, so it shall stay. "Once was enough for me!" I predict this place will soon fold.

I think expectations of some people are way too high and the Outback Steakhouse could use a little break. I love the steakhouse. They are very thorough about hiring good employees and making sure their customers get the best food they can offer. If something is wrong in the restaurant you eat at, let your server know, they are there to help improve the overall satisfaction of the guest and are unable to do so if they are not notified (for they're not mind readers). The Outback is one of my favorite places because they are caring and have a passion for their business. Thats more to say than a lot of restaurants. Thanks Outback Steakhouse!
OrangeCharlie 12/17/2008
I loathe Outback. I think their limited menu is disgusting and their blooming onion is overrated!
Chalky 11/18/2008
I forgot my didjeridu.
I like Outback, I usually get their 'chicken on the barbie,' which is basically a piece of grilled chicken. Very good bbq sauce, chicken, salad, fries, and of course the onion. Probably one of the better chains out there

Some of you people are delusional. To address most of your complaints...Outback in most places is only open for dinner because MOST EVERYTHING is prepared fresh in house. Nothing is EVER frozen or stored overnight to be reused. It is almost a sin how much food is tossed at the end of every night. The few individuals get there so early to begin the long prep process and dont leave until late evening, this is an ALL day process to ensure that the guests receive the best quality food. The steaks are top of the line meat, but every now and then, you have to know that there is going to be one bad one of the bunch. Not all the meat can be perfect. Noone can comment on the fact that nothing in that restaurant has flavor because all the meats are seasoned with a 17 pepper blend. As far as portion sizes, the plateware changed, thats all. Actually, the pasta is the only thing that really dropped, but who really can finish that whole bowl of pasta?? Salads are not smaller, they are just in a different bowl so they appear smaller, everything is measured out just the same as it used to be years ago. As far as prices, they change with the market as do most other restaurants. Vegan options, really? Why are you going to a steakhouse and complaining about this. But honestly anything that you ask for will be done for you if possible. Ive seen servers go to gas stations to get hotdogs for little kids, ive seen managers go next door to arbys to get customers cheese sticks, ive seen them make soo many things that are not on the menu ie potato skins, fried zucchini, and random others, just to appease the guest. If it is physically possible, they WILL do it, i promise. As far as the steak temps go. They cook to true temperatures, just because you may think something is rare or raw does not mean that it is, but becuase you are the guest you are always right. If you want to make for sure you are getting what you want ask the server they know the temps and if you ALWAYS order a rare steak but you dont want a cool center, you need to get med rare, they will tell you this dont argue, they know! oh and yes, the decor is very cheesy and crappy but when outback was started in '88 crocodile dundee was very popular so they took on the australian theme. THATS IT! it is not an australian restaurant by any means, and they are not trying to be. As far as the pink lights and purple ceilings, that is for ambiance. It resembles the sunset on ayers rock in australia. As far as noise level goes, how is the restaurant supposed to control how loud people are being, it is a family restaurant and unfortunately with that comes children and children are loud. thats all. really it is not a bad restaurant, just be a little knowledgeable before you complain and understand that those servers you are giving a hard time to, are making less than minimum wage and dont punish them with a lousy tip when the kitchen makes a small mistake.

Mediocre steakhouse with decent bar. Nothing special, but it wouldn't gag a maggot. I'm of the school that prefers "one of" restaurants rather than chains, but this will do in a pinch.
Note: "this will do" not "I seek this place out"

I went to outback steakhouse with my mom one day. I ordered the sirloin steak, medium rare. And let me tell ya, the best steak i have ever gotton in my whole life. I don't even think my mom can make a steak as good as this one and my mom is a great cook. I went to Texas Roadhouse and it was a pretty good steak but not as good as yours. Yours are delicous and I love it. I am 13 years old and I know good steak. Keep on making it tasty!

For one in Denver and another in Salem, OR. Good food, good service, tasty steaks. The only downside...there is almost always a wait to get seated.

A friend and I visited a Ms location of Outback for dinner. I frequently order the Rack of Lamb medium rare because dry tough meats can prove difficult to swallow. On this particular visit, the lamb, though cooked properly, was very tough and rubbery. I made it past the first rib but the next, no matter how much I chewed did not break down and became stuck in my esophagus. This has happened once or twice in the past briefly when eating dry or tough meats but passed quickly. This occasional difficulty in swallowing is why I always try to eat where the meat is choice and cooked properly, as it historically is at Outback. This time the meat remained lodged. I informed the manager of my predicament stating that I was not hitting him up for a free meal but I could not eat this one and was in distress over not being able to swallow. He did not seem too concerned about my wellbeing so I told him that the best I could do was take the rest home to my dog. He expressed even less concern and arranged for to-go boxes. When the check came and my rack of lamb remained, I gave the to-go boxes of my friend and myself to the manager and informed him that I had been mistaken. The meals were not fit for my dog. The saliva was backing up in my esophagus with no place to go but out and I was panicking so I left and went to the back of the restaurant to retch some more as I had three times in the Outback restroom and try to dislodge the stuck meat with no success. I went to the back so I would not have to perform the disgusting task in front of your patrons in the parking lot. When I gave up on expelling it, I got up and turned around and there was your manager behind me smoking a cigarette and smirking at me. He said I did not have to make a scene that he would not have charged me if I had asked. Sorry but had I been the manager I not only would I have not charged a patron who could not swallow because of the food he was served but I would not have let the patron out the door until I was assured that there was no medical problem. I would certainly have shown some concern that one if my patrons could not consume one of the most expensive meals on the menu or even finish his beer because he could not swallow. I went to the hospital around 10:30 PM that night and a specialist was called in to put me under to remove the obstruction. I had spent over five hours unable to swallow. They had to ventilate my lungs during the procedure, which did not do much for my Asthma either. I was released from the hospital the next morning at 11AM and spent the rest of the weekend recuperating on the couch from the soreness brought on by the procedure. It was something like how you feel for three days after pushing yourself too hard the first day of spring training or perhaps like a 17-hour ordeal brought on by a tough piece of lamb consumed in an establishment you trusted for quality. I just wanted all to know the kind of service and care this former Outback customer received at the Ms. location we visited.

If you want steak, go some place else. Ordered the Center Cut Filet at the Burlington, WA Outback for $19.95. Maybe a half inch, but unlike any filet I've ever had. Ordered it medium rare, came "very well done". Not even close. I'll go to Black Angus for steak from now on.

For a small town like ours eating here is a luxury. The prices are a little steep but, its got great atmosphere, it's clean, and the staff have always been friendly. The food has always been good and the menu provided something that everyone in the family wanted.

I have been to many different outbacks in various states. About a year ago , I noticed smaller portions of the salad, oinon and drinks. the prime rib was horrible. I chnged locations, still smaller portions, but better meat. The last time I went, I saw a larger onion, but it was overly cooked. I couldn't find the salad dressing in the way too small salad and the steak tasted like cardboard and was not cooked like we asked. We order both the ribeye and the NY strip and both were horrible. They replaced my daughters and we took it home . The dog ended up eating it too. Small potatoes and you could cunt the bacon bits on one hand. That is it for me. Thy lowered the quality of meat and shrank the portions. My last two visits were in PA around bethleham and jamison. They even skmped on the butter. I noticed a year ago they raised the prices. I don't care as long as you get what you pay for. They have really gone downhill. No more for me.
djalias 05/19/2007
Alright, to put all you doubters to rest here I go... Outback prides it self on its freshness, you name a chain (as big) that has the freshness outback does. A staff of 4 cooks getting up at 6 am to slow-cook prime rib and make all their homemade crutons, homemadedressings, mash potatos, and the other 80 percent of food from scratch? Red lobster, Apple Bees, Ruby tuesdays, Texas Road House, or even Fridays you say? Nice try, if you honestly like the stomach ache you achieve after youve tasted their (and this is no lie) "just add water" Mashpotatos, salad dressing, and frozen entrees, then go right ahead. Ive worked at all the restraunts Ive listed above, and can honestly tell you mulitple nights we have thrown foil ontop of a soup canaster and thrown it into our freezer for the next day (GROSS). Not outback, they throw away their un-used stock everynight. Outbacks food that does get put into the refrigerator for the evening has a 2 day or LESS shelf life, this includes steaks/fish/crab that are NEVER frozen, always vacum sealed (expensive to do this but necissary to ensure quality). For those of you complaining of "rare" steak temps, your server should have told you that OB's steak appear more rare than they actually are, because of the atmostphere/red lighting and they do cook a tad bit more rare to compliment the seasoning they put on the steaks, due to the lighting steaks appear more rare than actualy temps. If they didnt explain this contact a manager. As far as Service, its a HUGE franchise chain, give your local store a couple chances, speak to management and complain about your poor service/food if it is received, Outback as a whole is known for its great service/food, so give it a chance to improve if you have had a bad expericience. Hands down outback is the best not only steakhouse but main-stream restraunt of our time, look for them to control the market even more in coming years.
Flint1234 01/15/2007
Outback is awesome it is by far my favorite resturant. I go to the one in Flint, MI often and Tyshawn Prince from the Detroit Pistons even came in to eat there once. It is just perfect!!!
TVBuzz 01/12/2007
As an Australian, this restaurant sounds like a joke! Very tacky. I'd like to ask what the hell is a "blooming onion". I've lived in Australia all my life and have never, ever heard of a "blooming onion". Other things that strike me as inconsistant are the way menu options are listed, e.g. In Australian we actually use the word "prawn", instead of shrimp. The entrees sound rediculous; "kookaburra wings"? The service and ambiance sounds questionable at best. This seems to me like this is just your average steakhouse with a very unauthentic menu and atmosphere.
BlessedBeSiame se 08/22/2006
We do have one of these too, but I am not impressed with them at all. At night it is way too dark in ours and I think our Brown Derby Roadhouse is better.

I dined at Outback for the first time last night with my girlfriend after a long day hoping we could get a decent meal and go home. After all I have heard nothing but good things about Outback even though it is a corporate chain. Personally I never expect much from a chain restaurant and that is certainly what I got. Complaint #1.) ATMOSPHERE IS AWFUL. There is no reason for it to be that dark and the only ceiling lights to be red. I felt like I was at a wh*rehouse while eating my steak. Also, it is obnoxiously loud and cramped. I couldn't even enjoy a conversation with my girlfriend without yelling. Complaint #2.) Food was awful. Someone needs to teach these Aussies how to cook a steak. We both ordered a Filet Mignon mine cooked rare hers a medium rare. I recieved a raw seared on both sides steak and hers was a perfect rare. Which was then argued by my waitress calling it medium rare. Squishy and cool red is rare, not medium rare. Another problem is they don't grill their steaks. A flame is not involved in this cooking process making a tougher outside and much less healthy steak. Overall an awful meal with mediocre service and an atrocious atmosphere.
emsrskaggs 06/27/2006
Just to let all of the people who are upset because Outback doesn't offer any vegan meals, you're wrong. You obviously don't know how to order your food. They have sauteed shrooms which are normally made with butter in them, but if you ask your server politely they can have the chefs use fresh button shrooms sauteed in olive oil with pepper or garlic or any other spice you desire. Also, any vegetable they have can be prepared without butter. They also have salads that can be prepared without cheese or croutons and you can use oil and vinegar dressing. So, if you would stop complaining and maybe start to use that brain power to think of creative meal options, you wouldn't have anything to complain about. Oh yeah, it's a STEAKHOUSE!
spike43 04/16/2006
Great food and servise, and used to eat there about twice a month... but just got tired of the rediculous noise level. The only way you can have a conversation with your dinner companions is to yell over the din. Not very enjoyable. If not for that, I'd give the place 5 stars and I'd still be eating there.
doobiesNhof 03/16/2006
Honestly, I have only had one experience at Outback that could have tainted my opinion (a tough steak) but the manager took it away and brought out another one that was perfect.
StaberDearth 03/13/2006
I have eaten at Outback's since they started. In my opinion, they are getting worse. The steaks are nothing to get excited about and the other offerings are very inconsistent from one site to the next. I try not to be somewhere where this is my only or one of several other unacceptable offerings. And what's with not being open for lunch? Maybe too bad for lunch?
GenghisTheHun 01/07/2006
It's ok. I have eaten there several times. I like the artwork.

My Outback of choice is Wayne, NJ. All but one time they were consistant on quality of food and service. The time they were not, we complained and received a call from the proprieter himself and were able to resolve our issue. Unless you are there during the week when the doors open, expect this place to be packed with a wait for seating. That should tell you that everything about this place is worth waiting for. I find the staff is always friendly, prompt and even though you may have waited to be seated, once you are seated, the flow of delivery is timed perfectly. I'm picky as far as how things are cooked, etc. and they have never disappointed. Menu features appetizers such as "Blooming Onion", Kookabura Wings (Best chicken wings from a restaurant I have tried yet, and I don't really care for wings), Potato Skins, etc. Entrees - all different steaks from Strip to Prime Rib to filet. Most steaks are in your choice of 2 or 3 different sizes, grilled chicken, delicious ribs, pork chops, lamb chops, pasta dishes, etc. Add ons like Shrimp on the Barbie and mushrooms, lobster tail, etc. are available with your steaks. For a chain steakhouse, this is the best I have come across yet. Give it a try if you haven't already!
Wavebacker 12/14/2005
Outback Rules! The place I go to when I want a steak from a national dining chain restaurant. The wait time is the only thing that gets me. It's a sign of how good Outback is though. Thumbs up and Five Stars. Outback's Prime Minister Prime Rib is the best!*****UPDATE***** Outbakc drops a star. They opened one up near me and I've been there twice for Curbside Take away. Both times my Prime Rib has been lukewarm to cold and not done on time.

Outback is a turd. I went on my lunch break to meet a friend and we ordered an apetizer to share and a sandwich. 20 minutes later someone came out to tell us they had burned our appetizer. After 45 minutes of waiting for a sandwich, my lunch break was over and I had to ask to have my lunched boxed to go and was still late getting back to work. I believe that the staff was smokn some wacky tobaccy in the back as the restaurant was half empty and it still took that long. I would describe the Outback as poop on a stick.
sfalconer 09/02/2005
If you like a spicy steak and a lot of noise the Outback is for you. Their is always a line out side to get in and it is very popular so be prepared to wait.
