 | kamylienne (80) 10/23/2005 | Not really that much of a "sushi joint" so much as it is a hibachi grill (Japanese Steakhouse), but still, there's sushi, so I'll try it.
ATMOSPHERE: 4/5. Nothing extraordinary, but neat. Tables were fairly compact, but it's not that different than other places in the area.
SERVICE: 5/5. I'd give this bonus points, as this goes beyond a "5". I was a little skeptical about the chef when he came out; I mean, he didn't look much older than myself, and I'm used to older, more experienced chefs. But, hell if he didn't prove my first impression to be wrong! In a moment, he was whipping around knives and spatulas, juggling shakers filled with various spices and seeds, making silly jokes and lighting things on fire, all without a hitch, like he's been doing this all his life (he said he had been doing this for two years). Anyway, fun guy, and the waiter was pretty cool, too.
FOOD QUALITY: 4/5. Well, I ordered the salmon roll and the California roll, and they were as good as they come. Sushi isn't really the main attraction here, though. It's the big, honking grilling surface and the freshly-grilled meals. Overall, pretty decent.
FOOD QUANTITY: 4/5. For the price, a pretty good deal. Dinner came with soup, a salad and a plateful of meals which left us with a lot of leftovers.
PRICE: 4/5. Dinner for two, plus two sushi rolls, totaled about $50, $60-some with tip. Not too bad.
OVERALL: A little over 4 out of 5. Definately a fun outing.
