After a great experience at a Tucson, Az Red Lobster, I would like to complement the food, Admiral's Platter and Endless Shrimp, and especially the waitress, Kim. Kim was more than a breath of fresh air. She was friendly, attentive and prompt. She was the perfect waitress. Will continue eating at that Red Lobster at Broadway location at the Park Mall for the food and the waitress, Kim.

We love eating here, but I am not giving it 5 stars because it's gone through a lot of transformations in the past few years, that we don't care for. First of all their menu has changed, and now you have to pay for a 2nd side dish. It used to come with the meal. Their salads have shrunk, and so have their lobsters and scallops. Also where the menu claims to have a meal come with sea scallops, they have served me bay scallops instead. And my all time favorite appetizer, the Fiesta Lobster Rolls.....always taste "fishy" now. And they are so inconsistent, where sometimes they serve it alongside fresh pico de gallo and ranch dressing, but sometimes none at all. Their prices have gone up dramatically!I have one important thing to say about this restaurant chain, for you to keep in mind. That Red Lobsters across the U.S. are not all created equal!! I have been to some really good ones, in Elmira NY, and some really terrible ones in Georgia!!!I LOVE their tartar sauce of any that I've ever tasted. And their cocktail sauce is very good too! I used to love to order the all you can eat shrimp, and get the warm peel & eat shrimp steamed in Old Bay Seasoning, but they don't offer it here anymore, to my knowledge. The Admiral's Platter is really good, but now their fried fish is so skinny with no meat, but they make steak better then any steakhouse I have been in!! The waitresses can be rude, and anal about things. Nine times out of ten, I leave feeling satisfied, and usually have leftovers. I think they need a better selection of salad dressings, as they don't have Italian dressing at all! So I have to ask for the vinegar and oil. Actually, their so-called italian dressing is a red wine vinaigrette, and it tastes sweet. Yuck! But above all.....their food is amazing tasting! Now they have turned into an all wood- fired grill, so really good flavor! But you can have anything cooked however you want it, regardless. We usually spend $100. for two people there, and eat comfortably. It comes out to $50./person when you add in the appetizer(s), drinks, additional wants (we always add extra shrimp, lobster or scallops to our meals). I give it four stars.....all for flavor!

The Red Lobster in Augusta, Georgia is disguisting! Their restaurant is dirty, along with their dishes that they bring you to eat off of. The service stinks and the waitress' are not well mannered at all!

The ones in Florida are just horrible! We just went there today for Father's Day with my parents and grandparents. First of all, there was an hour wait...which was okay since I wasn't overally hungry anyway. When we were seated, we at least waited 20 minutes just to get a waitress to come over and greet us. I inclined a sweet tooth, so I ordered the 'Banana Bay Chocolote Smoothie'. When it came out, the flavor was good...but it was HOT! I don't think anyone wants to consume a hot smoothie, especially in Flordia's humid weather. My grandparents ordered wine, and it was hot as also. She then asked us for our food and I ordered the 'Battered Shrimp' with the Brocolli and Baked Potato. At least a good hour wait for the food to come out. The biscuits are delicious, but not as good to balance out the entree course. When my food came out, I was suprised on how they cut the portions of their shrimp. Their shrimp was tiny; about the size of a quarter. My baked potato was small as also and dry. She said the brocolli was steamed and it tasted frozen. Already quite dissappointed with my meal, I peaked at my grandparents. I forgot what they ordered, but they had a dish of shrimp in some grimy looking liquid and flounder. My dad tried a piece of the flounder, and he was revolted. He said it tasted frozen and gross. Of course, my grandparents praised it because they love any type of food. My dad also ordered the same dish as me and he was reallly dissappointed with the portions. Service was average, overall. But the food was horrific!Hopefully don't return to that location ever AGAIN.

The food here is the best seafood ever!! The crab legs are great, but it takes a long tome to crack them, and the wait is usually a little long, but that is ok considering they make up for it when you get your food. The service is very good, too. Can be a little on the expensive side here, though.
Melissa0921 04/28/2009
I love the food here! From their bread, to their shrimp!!!! The quantity is satisfying too. I guess the quality of service depends on where you eat, and in this case, the service was so-so. But I love to eat the shrimp Alfredo at Red Lobsters!

Back in the day, my parents had pretty good taste in restaurants, but as they've gotten older, they've seemed to have become pretty satisfied with some of the ubiquitous chains in the area of north NJ where they now live. I've eaten here with them a few times and, as chains go, it's not horrible or overtly unpleasant. Still, nothing to write home about either. Although my drinking is way down from what it used to be, I always order a drink (or 2); makes the upcoming meal seem a bit less bland. The last time we went, I had a tilapia (not the best thing to order in a fish restaurant, I know, but I doubt the Red Lobster tilapia tasted all that much different than the Red Lobster bluefish or the Red Lobster seared tuna) dish in a white chocolate sauce with Macadamia Nuts. Sounded intriguing, and I have an immense sweet tooth, but I did feel on finishing the dish that it was going to be the final impetus for me into full-blown diabetes. Which, of course, didn't stop me from ordering dessert, which...as expected...was sweet, and gooey, and too much. There are bad chains...I ate once at "Olive Garden" and don't intend to ever again...and this isn't one of them. Still, with even the better chains ("Macaroni Grill"?), who would go out of their way to eat there if they didn't have to? So it is with "Red Lobster". If my parents want to go, or they're treating (this was where we ate on my last birthday), who am I to complain? Speaking personally, though, I like fish, and when I really want to eat it, I'm going to a genuine restaurant, not a chain.

The meal with fries and Popcorn shrimp and tangy cocktail sauce is good enough for me! The cocktail sauce alone is great because I have longed for it in the night-time!
Randyman 12/02/2008
Rated against other chain restaurants it would probably rate a little higher but as a real honest to goodness seafood restaurant it falls short. To put it in simple terms, it's the Olive Garden of the seafood world.
Shelly2220 12/02/2008
it is ok..not the greatest. More on the lower end sea food quality
TheCavsfan 11/13/2008
Red Lobster is bad. Then again, what do you expect from the company that owns Olive Garden? They refused to seat me.
Chalky 11/10/2008
Yuck, Red Lobster isn't that great when you grow up where you can get fresh seafood. That said, the crab legs and cheese biscuits are decent but that's about it. You rarely see anyone there eating lobster either. yar.
Vista149 08/05/2008
Here in Virginia, Red Lobster is VERY popular, the restaurants themselves are very nice, the atmosphere is a classy seafood restaurant type. The food is the next thing, it's always good, and with my family, it's always taken home for another meal, because they serve such big portions. The food is definately not typical seafood that you get served at a normal restaurant.

For one in Denver and another in Salem, OR. Good food, service, and cleanliness. The food is better than average and the endless cheesey biscuits are addictive. Price was competitive with other sea food places.

As of now I work for Red Lobster. I've been with the company for over 7 years and reading this comments can make me sick. The unfortunate thing about this chain of restaurants is that is too difficult and pricey to get high quality fresh seafood for over 750 restuarants. The Today's Fresh Fish panel really is fresh, arriving 2-3 times a week depending on the volume of the location. Guests do pay more than Apple bees or TGI-Fridays for their meal, but they also dont get the same quality or selection of seafood. Barking at a $50 meal for three probably means you should have had it your way at Burger King and had three $6.00 meals. When my fiance and I go out to eat (not at RL) we rarely spend less than $140.00, not including tips. As far as my 1-Star rating, it is based on the fact that the chain is seafood for the masses and so many walks of life come through that its hard enjoy the atmosphere. Children screaming aside (hey, its a family restaurant, what do you expect?), a disproportionate percentile of the clientele are diners who ask for the "Skrimp" deal with a salad of bleu, french and red wine vinaigrette dressings (all combined). What I mean to say is uneducated, ill-mannered and otherwise socially defunked people who both act and dress trashy ruin what could be a comfortable dining experience. Not to mention the fact that they think 20 % is a rap singer and not a standard for tipping. Affluent diners beware, come early to enjoy the intended experience. My regulars were all week night diners, all well-to-do, and I valued them as much as they valued me. I'm on the move to a place where guests don't skip out on the tip or check because they need bus money or another do-rag.

POOR WOULD BE TO GOOD OF A WORD TO USE. I CALLED THE WHITEHALL, ALLENTOWN LOCATION AND SCHEDUALED A RESERVATION, NOT BEING TOLD THEY HAVE WHATS REFERED TO AS ADVANCED SEATING, WHICH MEANT MY 6:45 TURNED INTO A 8:00 PM SEATING, THE MANAGER HAS NO CLUE ON HOW TO DEAL WITH A CUSTOMER, OFFERING MY FAMILY NOTHING FOR THE INCOINVIENCE, EXCEPT THAT THEY MAY TELL YOU AN APPROXIMATE TIME AND WHEN THEY LURE YOU THERE YOU STILL MAY WAIT AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. ANY BUSINESS THAT HAS THIS KIND OF TRAFFIC NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE DEMAND, BUILD ON, MOVE TO A BIGGER BUILDING, DON'T EXPECT PEOPLE WITH FAMILYS TO WAIT FOR HOURS, TELL THEM SORRY WE CAN'T TELL YOU WHEN YOU MAY BE SEATED. HOW WE WERE TREATED, WAS POOR AT BEST. MY MONEY WILL GO ELSEWHERE ! P.S. BY 8:00 WE WENT TO ANOTHER PLACE A HALF HOUR AWAY, WERE SEATED, HAD OUR DRINKS AND APS. AND IT WAS ONLY 7:50 PM. SHAME SHAME. Pretty good, if not a little pricey. They give you waaaay too much food! Not that it's a bad thing...

Bland, working on blander. You just don't get good food in a chain.
caphillsea77 10/12/2007
I'm a native New Englander, I wouldn't dare eat here. Fortunately I don't even have to look at them as they tried opening up in these parts and all of them went down.
annalouise 08/08/2007
The food was lovely. But,the service was so slow .After waiting over an hour for my meal i was hungry was starting to pour condiments onto my side plate to eat.

Red Lobster is amazing! I love their shrimps the most becuz of the great flavor. The make it really good and the cheesy bread is so good....MMMMMMMMMM :]
liljessjess 04/23/2007
I continue to go back to Red Lobser again and again because their shrimp scampi is so great. And the biscuits...oh those biscuits! My husband is often disappointed with whatever he orders, but I will never be disappointed as long as they have shrimp scampi!
ColtSeries70 02/25/2007
This is just fair. It is a super chain what do you expect? Good for the family, it really is not a place for fancy celebrations. It is a bit pricey for the quality. I just really love shrimp scampi, and they give a buttload. I reccomend King's or Enterprise fishouse if you are in Santa Barbara CA, or Sid's Seafood hose if you are in Canoga Park, CA.
BlessedBeSiame se 08/22/2006
This is the only seafood place we have in our area so I don't have anyone to compare them too. The service is hit or miss in our location. Sometimes you get a very nice attentive server and other times you are lucky to find one. We love the alota colada as it comes with an extra shot making it actually worth the money when most places make you weak drinks and charge you way too much.

Yes a Red Lobster in New England is wrong, but it is a great place in Tennessee! ;-)

We visited Red Lobster Saturday before Mothers Day. I had the Admiral Feast platter. I was was so disappointed the fish tasted just like frozen fish sticks
cwhite329 05/09/2006
Somewhere around 1999 I went to a Red Lobster in another state I was visiting and picked up my drink and my glass came apart causing my drink to go all over my clothes. I was soooo embarrassed it was ridiculous. They actually wanted me to eat a meal after that! I told them no thanks just give me a refund cause I'd lost my appetite. Who wants to sit in a restaurant and eat when their clothes are wet? I ended up going to the nearby kmart and picking up some cheap dry clothes to put on. I got the refund and even after that incident continued to go there occasionally. I've had some good experiences and some bad experiences and I agree that the service seems to depend on what kind of location the restaurant is in. I've ended up getting several free meals b/c they just can't seem to get an order right! Recently I asked for a medium well steak and after sending it back twice it still came out bloody red. The manager came over and looked at it and she looked pissed. She apologized and quickly gave me a free meal and even offered me something else. I told her I was through with steak for the night and just got a damn appetizer.
sfalconer 04/11/2006
This is just bad, if you have never had real seafood then maybe it is all you know but as it was stated below most of it is frozen. The fish and chips are really bad some of the other stuff is ok but not that great. They are owned by the same people who own Olive Garden and they seem to operate the same way. See my rating of the a for mentioned Olive Garden for details.

We, want to commend the Red Lobster Manager Mr. ISAAC ROBINSON and his lovely Staff at the #1 Baltimore Pike in Springfield, PA. 19064 area for yet, another outstanding job regarding the services they continue to render to my family, neighbors and friends whenever we dine at the Baltimore Pike location. Again, thanks to Mr. Isaac Robinson & his staff and we are looking forward to our next visit. Respectfully, Happy Customers

The wait to get a table at this restaurant in Toledo, OH wsa 45 MINUTES a few weeks ago. Locations around my town (DC) are not half as busy--maybe I'm spoiled. For a chain, the seafood always seems fresh. Try to visit on days when they have their "lobster feasts."
Underspin 03/29/2006
Wildly inconsistant, perhaps more than any other chain restaurant I've ever visited. What I've noticed with Red Lobster is that in upscale neighborhoods/towns the food can be rather good, at times excellent. However in more working class districts I have found Red Lobster food to be merely fair, sometimes even poor in quality. This includes entrees, salads, appitizers, biscuits...even the decor and service can vary remarkably. One last note; A friend of mine from high school use to work at Red Lobster and told me much of the food had been previously frozen and was primarily cooked in plastic bags thrown in boiling water (this includes chicken breasts and other entree orders). Disappointing, if not altogether surprising...
X Factor Z 03/28/2006
Great seafood, and not too mind bogling expensive.
doobiesNhof 03/24/2006
Much of their seafood is frozen. They do have some fresh fish and lobster. Their cheese biscuits are to die for!!
GaMinister 03/02/2006
I suppose if you have never eaten fresh seafood, you might rate Red Lobster higher than 1. Their seafood is frozen, and tastes it. The lobster is rubbery and has very little taste. And they are way over priced. Their prices are almost double those of other seafood restaurants in my area...and these restaurants serve FRESH seafood. The last time I ate at one, my company paid for it....thank goodness. The bill for 2 people came to almost $50 !! As I said, my wife and I can eat at a local seafood restaurant for half that, and the food is 10 times better.
LADYBLACKPEARL 02/26/2006
Red Lobster is a good place to eat at. I mean if your looking for some top notch fancy pants type of seafood restaurant then you can go ahead and skip this one. The only thing is, if you expect to go out to Red Lobster on a "special" day, (ex. Valentines Day or Around Graduation time in June), don't even bother cause you will never eat lol. It's almost like on days like that you have to come in as soon as they open up for you to get a table by 8pm. Other than that I dig this spot for their Bahama Mamas, Crab Alfredo, fried shrimp, crab stuufed mushroom appetizers and I can't forget about those complimentary biscuits, I think the service is fairly decent too.
oscargamblesfr o 02/26/2006
2.5. Indeed, if you really want good seafood you shouldn't go to a fast food joint, seafood is something you gotta be careful about anyway, and obviously it's going to be better in coastal areas, just as a steak is probably going to be better in the middle of the country than further off regions-except for,in all likelihood, the absolutely top- notch, very expensive places anywhere. But, if you don't feel like paying a hefty price, well ... This chain varies greatly, I've been to pretty good ones in Indiana, a pretty mediocre one in Wilkes-Barre, and a truly godawful one run by, I would say, The Grim Reaper in some town about 30 miles south of N.Y.C in New Jersey- they're rare in the N. East. Essentially, after about an hour and ten minutes, somebody dumped what appeared to be fried horseshoe crab parts, a fish head, and tartar sauce mixed with motor oil on the table- i'm being facetious but- it's an ok chain if you're traveling or something, but do not go to that one!
texasyankee 02/19/2006
My family is allergic to shellfish, so getting them to go to Red Lobster was difficult, and with my husband all he worries about is how much it's going to cost. A friend of mine gave the Sherman,TX restaurant high ratings, saying it's the best place around. Having bad previous experiences in Red Lobsters around the country, I was a bit hesitant but figured ah give it a try so you have another bad meal in your lifetime. By now, I'd lost track of how many anyway :) How wrong I was. First thing that was noticeable, when the waitress walked us to our table, all of the staff looked up and said "hello" In spite of how packed the place was, they seemed to have time for us. It was amazing, she sat us at our table, made sure we were taken care of everytime she walked past, which was every 5-10 min. Made sure our drinks were filled, even before they were empty etc. I have never had service like that in any restaurant ever before. Then to top it all off, the food was delicious. From the cheesy biscuits to the salad, to every bit of the main course. Also one of my pet peeves is how they seem to rush you out the door as soon as the food is on the table; didn't happen, in fact she let us sit quite a while after we asked for doggy bags. My husband, who had been looking at the menu and prices with a pout on his face, quickly forgot all of that and when we left, he said "I would go there again, in spite of the fact I can only have so much from the menu" The reason I am giving it a 4 is because Red Lobster is inconsistent throughout the U.S. I have gone to places where I've ordered crab legs and they were steamed so long they were dried out. When I am ordering something at that price, it's an extreme disappointment.

I went to Red Lobster last Sunday for a late lunch with my family. I hadn't been there in a while but remembered something wasn't right the last time so I'd stayed away. My son and I ordered the combo platters: fried shrimp and scallops for me and chicken fingers and fried shrimp for my son. My husband got the large Admiral's seafood platter. The garlic biscuits and salad were good, but my jaw dropped when the waitress put my plate down. It was lunch so I wasn't expecting a huge portion but the size of the scallops looked like a plump dime and the shrimps were the size of my pinky finger. The quantity wasn't the best either. There was more plate showing than food! My son didn't even touch his chicken fingers. They were two pieces of flat chicken which had a funny taste. My husband said he enjoyed his. Our bill was a little over $50 for just that! I think it will be a long, long time if ever before I go back to a Red Lobster!!!
Kittenstocats 08/26/2005
This is one of my favorite restaurants. It has great sea food and is not too expensive. I only wish that I could have more on my plate. I love the rolls you get with the salad they are the best!!

I have really never been a fan of Red lobster. But I'm also not a sea food eater so it makes since. I have to say though there biscuits are awesome!

A disgrace to all creatures of sea and people who like to eat them.

A safe bet if you're travelling- but waaaay overpriced for the food.
