The food is mediocre to poor, the beer is great, and the ambiance and service is above average. This is a place that's about having a good time, rather than about good food. I've enjoyed my visits to the one in Portland.

Been to two of these places and I have to admit- I'm a sucker for this kind of place. Not an elegant dining experience- it's decent beer with good yet overpriced pub food. Not romantic, but a sociable and solid dining experience when you want casual food with above-average beer selections.

The one in downtown Seattle is pretty nice. The food is good. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great. Love playing pool and just hanging out there.

Take away the beer and there's simply no reason to go.

Suprised it is behind many truly chitty places on this list. RB is average. However, the location in Milwaukee has some of the best real estate in the city right on the Milwaukee River with a large deck. Minneapolis location is in a hole. Beer is a solid D.

So it's not "rock bottom," but it's not the top of the heap either. The food is average, but I must say the portions are very generous. Some of the salads are tasty, though, as are several of the appetizers (Asiago cheese dip, nachos). Stay away from the iced tea- it tastes like it was made with swamp water!

The original Rock Bottom, on the 16th Street walking mall in Downtown Denver is an example of what a chain restaurant can be, if it is run by people who love food and drink. Excellent, hearty food (love the chicken fried steak) and truly remarkable brews; with a friendly, upbeat staff on top of it all. Denver's location has a pool hall in back which is a great meet market. Also live music on weekends and in the summer, AT LUNCH!!!!!
