i love president reagan, but i breaks my heart that he traded arms for hostages. perhaps that is naive, but it just didn't seem right.

Iran-Contra consisted of the selling of weapons to our enemy (Iran) and diverting the profits to the revolutionaries attempting to overthrow the communist regime in Nicaragua. To me, doing the right thing through illegal means. Oliver North was Reagan's quarterback in this, and wasn't Ross Perot involved in this, too? The press thought they had Reagan on this one but he turned out to be too popular and the American people were just not outraged. Very similar to Clinton's Lewinskygate saga, but with a slightly more noble reason for the activity. Ultimately, Daniel Ortega lost the ensuing election, thanks to the Iran-Contra funding and rebel activity, and the USSR lost another of its final battles.
