I liked this show, the writing was strong, the acting excellent, the interaction powerful. Unfortunately, this show was never given a fair chance. It was shifted or pre-empted so many times due to problems behind the scenes it couldn't develop a fan base. Too bad, it could have been a hit.

I can't believe the show was "pulled"...is this reminding us all of the Joe McCarthy era. They virtually destroyed the show...moved it around....and then said it became "too political" and cancelled it. Is that because the show highlighted for us what a president should be as compared to our own lackluster president? What a joke. I'm shocked that any vehicle would still have "W - The President" Aren't the vehicle owners ashamed of their mistake. Redoedo...you must get off of the pipe...because the performances, writing, acting, and execution...are excellent.

A decent attempt, but not nearly as compelling or realistic as its NBC counterpart, "The West Wing." The writing is good, but the performances, even by Geena Davis and Donald Sutherland (who are typically solid), are lackluster at best and downright unbearable at worst. While the idea of a female president is compelling, "Commander in Chief" ultimately fails to deliver much in terms of story, realism or acting.

FWIW I sent this to ABC: Have you lost your minds? You don't remove a captivating, suspenseful, well-written, & well-acted show because the ratings are not as good as some goddamn sloth-drivel on another network. No, you just move the quality show to a time-slot where its ratings will flourish. You network guys need to get realistic about this. We viewers don't give a rat's ass about some pseudo-macho ratings competition between networks. The disappointing ratings of Commander In Chief reflect not on the show but on your poor programming decisions!

The problem is that I tend to compare it to West Wing, which is in a class all its own in terms of the writing.

This is the best new show of the year as far as I am concerned. Gina Davis is the perfect person to play a president. I love her integrity and values. It's too bad we can't really seem to get someone like her character in office! I will be loyal to this show as long as it is on the air. Hooray!!!

Donald Sutherland and Geena Davis make this show worth watching. It is the best Genna Davis has ever looked. She has fellows saying, " Man. I didn't know she could look that good."

The writing is horrible. The direction is horrible. The acting is horrible. The production values are horrible. Even hair and makeup are horrible. If I could award zero stars, i would. (And Jean Munro could be nominated for the Supreme Court, given her over-generous use of caps and multiple exclaimation points.)

I am a firm believer in a woman being president. Lets face it hollywood is trying to set the stage for hillary clinton, BIG MISTAKE, a woman who looks the other way when bill gets sex in the oval office so she can gain power, the show sucks, it blows, it reeks and its so transparent that hollywood is again trying to tell us how to vote and think. Have you noticed how the lives of those in hollywood end up and we want to listen to these people. There is a WOMAN in the white house now in a very powerful position, Rice and the so called feminist in this country rip her apart because she is not Hillary or a liberal. Hyproctites.

I will say this. The acting, IMO, is excellent. I love Donald Sutherland and have always thought Geena Davis was an underrated actress. Second, the show I think has brought out a very good message in that the concern about a women president is not about whether she can "push the button" if it gets to that point, but she will really do what is best for the country rather than what is best for the government itself. That is what those rich, old white guys are afraid of. That a female president will think of the country's best interest over their own
alexis20 09/30/2005
The premise is very inventive, but Geena Davis's portrayal of the first female President is horrible. I especially hate the way the network wimped out by labeling her "Independent".
goodhumor54 09/30/2005
Premise is good, writing and acting are terrible. Geena Davis is not believable and Donald Sutherland's character is too out of touch to be believable. Better luck next time Hillary!

THANK YOU for killing us with caps. Now so I can stay on topic, the show blows.

IT'S ABOUT TIME, THEY HAVE A SHOW THAT WILL CLEARLY EXEMPLIFY A WOMAN'S ABILITY NOT ONLY TO BE PRESIDENT; BUT ALSO HER AMAZING ENDURANCE AND RESILIANCE AT HANDLING HER WORK AND HOME FRONT!! THE VERY THINGS THE MAJORITY OF WOMEN IN THIS COUNTRY ARE IMMERSED IN AND GET NO RESPECT FOR!! MUCH KUDOS TO ABC!!
