 | terrry7 (0) 08/07/2007 | BEWARE!!
I ordered a $1,574.00 Plasma tv through them , I tried (to no avail) to purchase the extra warranty with it, which for no reason that they could give me wasn't appearing through their portal link (they said their site should have EVERYTHING that is on the store's site, It doesn't!!) all this was on my dime, they have NO toll free telephone number! They said they would look into it & call me back, but never called me back , so I go ahead & buy it anyways, with no extra warranty as I wanted to order through them to get their Get10Back rebate.) Well according to their rebate info "Please note that with SOME banks there MAY be a delay in processing credits and your credit MAY appear on a subsequent billing cycle." What they say & the truth are VERY different........I called American Express, they said that it would show up right away, there are no delays in posting a credit like that, upon calling them (again, my dime) they tell me that it was CLEARLY stated that it will not be posted for at LEAST 45 days from the receipt of the item, Just in case there is a problem.. that would require them to take the rebated $$ back from your credit card. THEN whatever additional time that it takes your credit card company to process it. That is assuming that it ever comes! I told the rep that it was VERY misleading, as it is not a question of "It MAY" take an additional billing cycle. It most DEFINITELT WILL take at least 1 if not 2 billing cycles, Then , IF it doesn't appear, maybe with smaller purchases, you might just forget to keep checking for the rebate, & it never appears & you forget about it!
I asked to speak to someone to correct their "misleading" terminology regarding the rebate, the rep said no, there was no one she coud refer me to, that she felt it was not misleading, Try telling your boss you "MAY" show up at work or you "WILL" show up at work, those words are not interchangeable! So, American Express said that they will take care of it, so I will contest the charge, & they can be inconvenienced & spend their time & $$ (like I did) to get it straightened out. I told her IF they were honest up front & stated that it takes at LEAST 45 days BEFORE they even start to process your credit, I could have decided if it was worth it to me to wait , but instead they IMPLY it "with SOME banks, it MAY appear on a subsequent billing cycle" & it is YOUR BANK"S fault that it takes so long, & you keep calling your bank, wasting your time, checking to see what's up! When they have no intention of EVER even sending it to your bank for AT LEAST 45 days! Do you think that the 45 days they are "holding" your money, awaiting processing that it hmmmmmmmmmmmmm it may possibly be in an interest bearing account, multiply that by how many people's orders at 10% collecting interest....
Bottom line, I don't have any warm fuzzy feeling from this purchase, all the extra phone calls, being spoken to like I was an idiot that couldn't read,(when I can read & what they said & what the rep said they do are 2 VERY different thinga) the rep said you have to wait 6-8 weeks for a rebate from buy.com! I said yes, BUT THEY TELL YOU UP FRONT, so you know what the deal is, you lie & IF you lie, or "mislead" about this, how do I know you will even send the rebate? If you wait too long you can't contest the charge!
Soooo, no, I don't think I'll be back! BTW, (to give you an idea of their "records" IF you have a problem...) the rep said there was NO RECORD of me EVER having contacted them before, so I guess I won't have to pay my cell phone company for those telephone calls when I was trying to buy the extra warranty from them, ..you think??

 | Shop4Convenience (0) 12/22/2006 | Why shop at Shop.com? I didn't realize that shop.com is just a search engine. If you have a problem with your order, you have to contact the seller directly. Even then, their "affiliates" are questionable. Maybe not all, but I happened to pick one that is. I bought a Christmas gift for my daughter on Nov. 18 and here it is Dec. 22 and it still hasn't arrived. After several unanswered emails and phone calls, I got a message today that her gift was shipped yesterday! So much for shopping early for Christmas... Yes, shop.com did step in after I complained, but the fact is this is an unnecessary extra layer of complexity for a simple purchase transaction. Bottom line: Maybe use their search function, but shop direct and know who you are buying from just as with anything shopping on the net. I made the mistake of trusting a third party for screening merchants for me. Never again.
