Our 6 month old GSD Scarlett has an absolutely beautiful coat on this food. No runny stool and she does not throw it back up. Good solid poop everyday. She poops with ease. She eats it aggressively. She has gained 15 lbs in two months and has zero fat. My vet says her weight is perfect.I did not even transition her to the new Kirkland puppy chow. One day she got the last of the breeder's food. His food was puppy food he bought at Southern States Coop. The next day she got Kirkland. No problems. We fed our two previous dogs the regular Kirkland dog food for practically their entire lives with no digestive issues or problems. Newton (Husky/GSD mix) lived 16 years and Simba (GSD) lived 14 years. Newton dropped dead in the back yard and Simba had a degenerative hip disease that didn't surface until she was 13 years. In fact, the vet commented on how beautiful Simbas coat was.Dog food is advertised to appeal to humans. That is why so many people spend so much money on fancy dog food. They are convinced it has to be food they would eat themselves.I asked Scarlett's breeder about dog food he said, "Remember, a dog will eat an animal that has been dead in the woods for two weeks. Don't get too hung up on the ingredients." My vet said to just make sure the first ingredient is just meat. For example, "Chicken, etc.... And Kirkland dog food does have the first ingredient as just meat.5 Stars and 2 thumbs up for the Kirkland Puppy food and Kirkland Regular dog food.

We fed kirkland dog food for years. This last summer I noticed one of the dogs was getting sick but have 4 dogs so wasn't sure which one. Than I realized one of the border collies was loosing her hair in patches and was loosing weight. I saw her throw up so I called the vet. They said to feed her and watch her throw up, it made a difference how she did it. She ate and about 5 min. later she hurled her food, called and the vets back and got her in. They did a ton of tests, cost me over 300.00 and while there they fed her a little food so they could watch her reaction, she didn't throw up, fed her a little more and nothing. Decided the food maybe bad, got home and found the other dog in the kennel had thrown up while we were gone. I switched food and the problem went away. I called diamond dog food whom makes the food, they were very nice, they were going to call my vet, seemed very concerned. I sent in a sample of dog food and now over a month later nothing back from them. I guess I'll send in another sample. I would hate to sit back and find out that there is bad food out there just because they "claim" they never got my sample. Well I kept the rest of the food, even though they said to take back to costco and get a refund, just in case this happened.

ATTENTION ALL DOG OWNERS. !!!!!! I USED THIS KIRKLAND CHICKEN AND RICE FOR 2 YEARS, WAS TOLD IT WAS GOOD FOOD AND THE PRICE UNBELIEVABLE. RECENTLY MY FEMALE TAZ HAD A CANCEROUS TUMOR ON HER BACK LEG. A MONTH LATER HER SON FUZZ HAS A LUMP ON HIS FRONT LEG. ALL 3 OF US DRINK BOTTLED WATER, SO I CAN ONLY SURMISE THAT THE FOOD IS THE CULPRIT. I WENT BACK TO SENSIBLE CHOICE, NOW ALMOST 50 BUCKS WITH TAX. I DECIDED FOR 50 BUCKS I MIGHT AS WELL MAKE MY OWN AND THEN I KNOW THEY ARE EATING GOOD!!!!!!!!! I AM RETURNING THE SENSIBLE CHOICE AND I BOUGHT 10 POUNDS OF CHICKEN THIGHS, 25LBS OF RICE, AND 10 LBS OF FROZEN VEGGIES FOR UNDER 30 DOLLARS, THANKS COSTCO. I WILL MAKE FOOD ONCE EVERY WEEK OR 2 AND REFIRGERATE AND FREEZE SOME. IF FOOD IS GONNA COST THAT MUCH, AND WHO KNOWS WHATS IN IT?, OUR DOGS DESERVE THE BEST! SCREW THESE COMPANIES CHARGING US ALL THAT MONEY FOR A BUNCH OF CRAP THATS KILLING OUR DOGS. UNITE PEOPLE AND MAKE YOUR DOG THE BEST FOOD POSSIBLE. !!!!!!!!!

Kirkland Lamb, rice and vegetables and Chicken rice and Vegetables is wonderful dog food. My Belgian Shepherd ate Kirkland's dog chow for the last few years of his life, he had very sensitive skin and passed away at the age of 13.5 years old. He was wonderful, he loved his Kirkland chow. When I switched him to Kirkland's Lamb Rice and Vegetables his skin problem disappeared. I would switch between Lamb and the Chicken to give him variety. The new German Shepherd loves the Kirkland dog food also, I also switch him between the Lamb and the Chicken. He has the most beautiful coat, skin and is full of energy. No more hot spots or allergies for him. Kirkland's both brands of dog chow are as far as I am concerned the best to feed your lovable pet and protector. My German Shepherd was raised on Kirkland's Puppy Chow, he has never had a problem with any of the Kirkland dog chows. What else can I say that he has an extremely shinny coat of fur.

I have a German Shepherd and an English Mastiff. Needless to say we go through a lot of dog food. Until recently, they had been on Kirkland SP for two years, but recently became violently ill. They were vomiting and had terrible diarreah with blood in it. The problem went away when (under Vets advice) we put them on a bland diet of boiled chicken breast and rice. We slowly reincorporated the kirkland thinking the dogs had something viral and they showed the exact same symptoms again. After doing some research, I discovered that others had issues with Kirkland's quality consistency. At best it is a mid-grade food that is cheaper than any comps you'll find at the pet store; at worst it is a food that could put your dogs health and life in jeopardy. My dogs were fine for two years but eventually it made them severely ill!
Ziggygirl 07/16/2009
I'm trying Kirkland because we needed to feed our German Shepard a high quility food. The price is good for a 40 pound bag of lamb and rice. Jade might have food allergies She has terrable hot spots on both haunches. She has had issues before with hot spots- but never this bad. I canot afford to bring her to the vet every time something becomes a issue. She also has a eye problem than needs medication daily. I'm hoping that this food solves both issues. That would be great. The other 2 little dogs like it alot and my Cooker is picky eater. We will have to see/ Keep the fingers crossed!!

best bang for the buck. I'm not a fan of cheap foods but in hard finical times this would be the one to feed. its got good ingrients and is easily available. of couse if you could afford better, there is better out there.

I have a 5 month old Rott. My local costco only had the adult Lamb or Chicken 40LB bags. They did not have any of the puppy bags. I bought the Lamb. Will this be ok for my rotty?
fabsfer 05/13/2009
Basically the short and the long of all foods is that it really depends on who is consuming the food and how their body processes it. Kirkland is a good food that is made by Diamond and will fill the needs of most dogs, I have been feeding my Rottweiler Kirkland Lamb and Rice for her whole life and she had never had any digestive issues, allergy issues or anything related to food. She has a beautiful, muscular body and a wonderfully, shiny coat. Her stools have always been firm and not overly abundant. Same thing goes for my dachshund. Of course they also have the opportunity to get plenty of exercise as well.I am an RVT (registered vet tech) and I have seen dogs on top brand foods that look just as healthy, such as dogs that are on Old Roy (which nearly gives me a heart attack because that food has such horrible ingredients) that are in absolute wonderful body condition. On the flip side I have also seen dogs on top brands that don't process those high-end, expensive foods well either. So what it boils down to is that each individual processes foods in a different manner, such as with people (our receptionist eats fast food constantly and is a tiny, 100 lb woman with low cholesterol and absolutely no body fat, although she does not really exercise much - unfair to have such great genes, but a perfect example that we are not necessarily always what we eat!!).Kirkland is a decent food at a decent price, if you can afford a more expensive food with "better" ingredients by all means try that food first, but just be aware that just because you pay more, that does not mean that you are necessarily giving your dog what is best for them individually!

I am actually reviewing the Kirkland Puppy food, specifically, as there was no listing for that. I have had an awful experience with my Golden on it, but know some people love it. I still give it 3 stars, as it's decent food, and VERY affordable. It got a 3 star rating on dogfoodanalysis.com, and Iams gets a 1, to give you a basis for comparison. My puppy, however, does not do well AT ALL on this. He had moderate to severe diarrhea the whole 2 months he was on it, and became infatuated with water. This could be due to dehydration from the diarrhea, or the salt content of the food, but as soon as we switched him to Wellness, ALL problems immediately went away. I think it's a better choice than a lot of the "grocery store brands", but if you can at all afford a super premium food like Wellness, I would certainly go that route. He's been on Wellness for a week now, and hasn't had ONE loose stool.
delvadom 03/18/2009
I love this brand! the dogs have more energy, they live longer healthier lives, and the price is great. When you first switch most dogs get the trotts, but it clears up if you mix your old food at first. i get the whole package= Kirkland dry, Kirkland wet, and Pedigree wet. With TEN dogs all over 45 lbs. the food goes quick!

Something has changed in the Kirkland dog food formula since October 20, 2008. Have used it for 17 years for my Aussie Shep. with great results. Last October, I noticed that the color had changed. It was lighter in color, more like a tan color rather than the darker, meatier looking of years past. As soon as I fed it to Charlie his stools became runny and he had gas he never had before. Called Costco on this, but never received a reply from their buyer, etc. Anyone else notice the same?

We feed the Kirkland puppy food to our 9 week old puggle. When the breeder told me she fed her dogs kirkland, I was skeptical. She had been using Nutro, but it was on the 2007 recall list. She said Kirkland has a high score on the dog food scoring guide. After doing some research and checking out the dog food scores, she was totally right, it scored over 100. Its not a holistic or organic dog food, but it has simple ingredients with the first two being meat, and no corn, soy, or wheat. Our puppy has solid stools (sorry to be graffic!), and seems to really love it. Its so affordable, and while you can only get it at Costco, I think I paid $12 for a 20 lb. bag. We might not always keep him on it, but for now its working out great and helping with the house training. He is a little gas-y, but its getting better as he adjusts. I would recommend it to anyone, although of course, there are better foods out there (people have recommended Merrick and Natural Balance as higher quality foods). For people looking for quality but watching their wallets, Kirkland is a good choice.
Shamra 01/11/2009
We've used the Kirkland brand for years. However, our latest dog, a 6 month old Golden Retriever has skin problems. She's allergic to something in the food. Our breeder used the Kirkland brand puppy food and we have continued using it. She has a beautiful, shiny coat, but she's terrible flaky and has been since day one. Now she's developed skin sores. She does poop a ton and has awful gas. Any thoughts?

I own a small pet sitting business and have over 140 dogs in my client base. I have seen such changes in dogs and cats once they are off the (by products, wheat, soy, corn and glutens)this includes their treats too. No more ear infections, licking paws, soft stools, itchy skin, throwing up. While I recommend Wellness, Merrick, Natural Balance etc.. the biggest surprise I found was that Costco's Kirkland brand is fantastic!! None of the cheap filler I mentioned above.Granted I find some pets need to be completely taken off grains and even sometimes chicken (chickens eat corn) but those are the exception. Quality! yet affordable!

This is a great food for not too sensitive dogs,I had great experiences with it on my labs,my old cocker, had some softer stools, but otherwise, great food, and price is more than great.

We are getting a new puppy! We had two previous dogs, whom we fed presidents choice adult formula to, guess what NO problems, they were both 14 years old when they passed away, not bad for White Shepperd/Husky and Chow/Husky....oh and I must mention they never went to the vet once! I think there's too many people trying to overthink everything! Stick with a food for a month and then re-evalutate! Compared to expensive brands, ingredients look superior! DONT BE FOOLED BY MARKETING!!!TRENDY's OUT!!!

Pondering an Obama Presidency and the likely future of the US economy, I don't mind these dog food reviews anymore. Would this one go well with Saltines and a $5.00 bottle of white wine?
bullies4life 11/08/2008
This food seems to be great for the money. Both of the breeders that I bought my English and French Bulldogs from recommended it and fed it to their dogs. I tried switching them to a more expensive product orijen but they always had runny poop bad gas (no grains seems to cause that and maybe a bit too much protein). However the orijen gave them a beautiful coat and they seemed very healthy. So I started mixing the Kirkland back in. Now they have less gas, firm stools and they love the mix. The ingredients in the Kirkland food looks really good. I always question the validity of people on here who are claiming to be nutritional experts. I think they may not know what they are talking about. This is a good food and much better than many brands recommended by Vets or "experts".

I HAVE USED THIS FOOD FOR YEARS THE INGREDIENTS AND THE PRICE OUR GREAT BUT IM A BREEDER WITH SOMETIMES UP TO 40 DOGS AT A TIME AND THERE STOOLS ARE RUNNY AND THEY POOP WAY MORE THEN ANY OTHER FOOD AND THEY GET BAD GAS
IMDaveReynolds 10/30/2008
We have a Shepherd/Collie mix, that was eating Blue dog food. For economic reasons, I looked around at other, less expensive brands of dry food. After looking at the ingredients, it seems that the Kirkland Super Premium provided the best cost-to-benefit... The dog loves it, has plenty of energy, no adverse reactions. The food did cause loose/runny stools at first, but I think that was because I had mixed in too high a ratio of the new food early. Once her digestive tract acclimated to the new mix, she's fine. All in all, a good food for a great price. I use a mix of this dry food with 1/2 can of the Kirkland canned food.
JenKirk 10/17/2008
We switched from Nutro to Costco & we will be throwing the rest (over 80%) of the bag out to the deer. My dogs have had gas for the last two weeks and runny stools. They have pooped more in the last two weeks than they normally poop in three months on Nutro. We did the transition, but from the moment a drop of Kirkland crap was in their stomachs it has been a nightmare. If your pets are used to good food, do not try to save a few bucks. The amount of poop is not worth it. Not to mention the horrible gas... it is enough to gag a maggot.
Nathan141 10/05/2008
I mix the kirkland signature puppy version of this food with taste of the wild prairie food, about 4:1, kirkland:TOW. I like to mix foods and slowly rotate a little other food in. The Kirkland signature puppy food is a slightly different formula from the adult stuff. Our puppy--GSD/teriever--is thriving on this mix. The Kirkland is superior to 3/4 of the dog food out there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. It has probably the best price/quality ratio around. I highly recommend it to folks with limited resources who still care about the best for their dogs.
boxergirl92109 09/28/2008
I have 2 boxers, ages 9 months and 7 years. Both dogs will eat this food. The 9 month old is so picky, so we relieved that we found a food that he would eat. He never had firm stools but he seemed to on this food. The ingredients look fine, but the problem is that they go poop about 5 times a day. That can't be normal. The price is very attractive but I just don't think it's working with their digestive systems. So, I'm switching food for the 20th time. A friend of mine also had the multiple poops a day problem with her shelties.
TJs76 09/19/2008
My dogs love it. My cats like kirkland cat food too. I did some internet searches and ingredient comparisons which are very similar to other top brands. What was not similar is the price, 20$ for 40 pounds. That is very well priced. The lamb and brown rice has a first ingredient on LAMB.
AleashaC 09/16/2008
Kirkland is a low quality food. It should not be fed. If you care about your dog, stay away from this food. Feed a high quality diet, not this stuff. It provides almost no nutritional value. My dog hated it and it was expensive.
meccano1234 08/28/2008
Sorry Connie, I'm not buying it! Whether or not dogs are carnivores or omvivores is a a hotly debated topic for discussion. Either way, they are NOT obligate carnivores; meaning a dog's diet need not consist of meat only. In nature, meat is not always available and dogs will eat nuts, seeds, beans, vegetables, fruits and, get ready... **GASP!!**...grains, when meat is not available. Canines have been accustomed to this type of diet for millions of years. And yes, many canines in the wild ate fish (and even crabs) if the species was located near water. To feed them a diet merely consisting of raw meat is not necessary and certainly doesn't take into account the true nature of the canine.
randa9804 07/09/2008
I heard this was the best quality for the price. I weaned my 1 year old puggle off nutro to Kirklandland from Costco. every thing was fine for 2 weeks but i notice his stool has been loose for over a week now. not sure if it was a stomach bug at first but after a week i'm starting to wonder if the Kirkland just does not agree with him. Poor lil guy :(
Mikedogg091 06/30/2008
I'm just wonderin about this food I'm gettin a 8 week year old puppy should I start him of with this food or start him with Canidae All life stages than at 1 year old start to add this to his diet I hear it is a very good food Kirkland got a 110 A in a ratin system I looked up and Canidae All life stages got a 112 ?!?!? wat do u think I should feed my 8 week old Cockapoo maltese?!?!

It's one of the best deals for all natural dog food you could ever get! I don't understand why some people have had problems,I have been feeding it to my 2 dogs for 5 years now. I also foster dogs too and they ate it with not a single problem. My first dog is a VERY VERY picky eater,we used to feed her ol' roy and she got very skinny because she never ate it,and it was the same story with pedigree, science diet, and all the crapola with corn,by-products(AKA fillers),perservatives, ect. Then we got Kirkland and she loved it,and her body did too. She didn't poop as much anymore, she had more energy, her coat wasn't as dull, ect. When I got my second dog,I knew exactly what to feed her! She benefitted from it too. I'm so glad I'm a costco member, for $50 a year to be a member,I think all the savings you get pays for itself. Not only do I reccomend this dog food, but I reccomend becoming a costo member if your not already one.
aussieaddict 06/07/2008
Yeah...I'll rate it. It's like all the other DRY dog foods...INappropriate for a CARNIVORE...and that's what dog's are. Not an omnivore. They don't need CARBS!!! The BEST diet for a dog/cat is Prey Model Style Raw Diet....Raw meats, raw meaty bones, raw offal (liver, spleen, kidney), green tripe and salmon oil, (if you can't afford to feed grassfed meats). My Vet is astounded by the HEALTHY bloodwork from my 14 YO Aussie. I've been Raw Feeding for OVER 10 years...to 7 to 8 Aussies...and I have 10 years of education on nutritional reading too. Ask your vet how long they study nutrition in college...you'll be surprised at the answer...and "who" teaches it? The dog food companies! Sigh. Please check out www.usrmb.net for further info on Raw Diets or READ: Raw Meaty Bones by Dr. Tom Lonsdale, DVM or his other book, Work Wonders. Connie H. of Pinecrest Aussies of Colorado

My dog that passed away in october of 07 ate this food for her entire life until months before her death. I had switched her food (to nutro) thinking what I was switching to was better. I work at a petsore and there most people say nutro is the best you can get (it is far from that). Anyway, She was 13 and a mix of border collie and a lab possibly something else as well. Before and since we got a new dog I've been surprised by how much people don't know what's really in their pets foods. My advied to people is to try to remove all the imagery and see the food for what it objectively consists of. Look at the ingredient list and guaranteed analysis. I am not claiming the food switch caused her to pass away but I will claim that costcos foods are perfect for someone on a budget and is a good measure of what a food of this quality should be sold for. I see foods with poorer quality ingredients going for 40-60$ at my work everyday and I cringe but am learning to just live with it. I can't remember the ingredient list fully but from what I recall the main thing I didn't like was the use of beet pulp which is a filler and is widely specualted to cause allergies in some dogs. It didn't give my dog any problems but I would recommend something else unless you can't afford to.
7dawgs 05/29/2008
We've been mixing 50/50 this Kirkland product w/ Canidae ALS dry for our 7 dawgs (6 labs, 1 German SHP) for about 2 years. They are run/walked/played with very actively at least twice a day, so we feed them 2 cups of dry twice a day. They also get a couple ounces of steamed chicken breast, 1/3 cup real cooked brown rice & a tablespoon of pumpkin at dinner time. We also give them fish oil, an occasional hard boiled egg, 1500 mg of gulcosamine for the pointer, etc. 5 of the labs are nearing 3 years old, the mom lab is nearly five and the pointer is 8-9. All are doing great!! No skin, breath, stool or bloating problems as I've read from other reports. With this many dawgs and our commitment to their health, we researched before deciding to add Kirkland. Going thru 4 bags of food a month, we save a little $$$ but still give them a great diet. Canidae is available locally but we live quite a distance (1 hr.+) from Costco, so we get several bags each time we go (once every 6-8 weeks). Also to we like to keep several bags of both brands on hand (and rotate) for the dawgs as a "disaster preparedness" measure. Couldn't be happier doing this mix!!
yorkielover4 05/06/2008
Don't feed this food. After we gave this food to our puppy, she has skin allergies, itching terribly. Also her waste smells very heavy. Nevertheless, she loves its taste. When we take her to the vet for her allergies, the vet suggested to change the food immediately and gave us Hill's food. Now,she is doing fine.
N2 03/12/2008
Our poor basset started loosing fur and had severe skin allergies causing open sores. Within 2 weeks of stopping Kirkland and feeding her homemade food her fur is starting to grow back and the rash is healing.

I have two Great Danes in fantastic shape. I have been using the Kirkland Super Premium Chicken and Rice formulas for 7 years now. I chose this food after doing much research (which I still do from time to time)and there are no by-products, no corn, and no wheat in the Kirkland food, and the first ingredient is Chicken. There are too many bad dog foods out there, and only some great foods, but in some of the great foods, you will find ingredients (for example: blueberries) which are really of no value (but not bad) to the food, so I save a bit more money and buy Kirklanl. I believe it deserves the A+ rating it gets when compared to other dog foods.

I have two small/medium dogs (beagle/bassett mix and dalmatian/dachshund mix). My beagle is 9 months old and we started her on the Kirkland puppy formula. It seemed okay at first, but she developed horrible breath and gas and there were no signs of tarter! I read something in a holistic dog book that the cause of bad gas is typically the food so we switched her to Dr. Weil's organic dog food. We've been happy with it so far and her gas problem cleared up almost immediately along with her mange. As far as the dalmatian/dachshund, I fed her Kirkland food about 2 years ago when she was about 7 years old. It didn't last long in our house b/c she really packed on the pounds with this food. To make a long story short, we have since started her on Dr. Fox's homemade dog food recipe and she looks and acts like a puppy again! I supplement both dog's foods with a multivitamin and fish oil (along with glucosamine for the older dog). Both have never been healthier and the puppy will likely get homemade food once she is 1-2 years old.
lemonslymes 02/07/2008
We have used Pedigree for a long time and my dog was enjoying it very much and had no problems with it. However we recently switched to Kirkland and over time my dog has become bloated when he eats it, and is about 10 lbs. over-weight. We feed him once a day and not very much. Pedigree to me, is a better choice.
GentleGiantMan iac 01/26/2008
I think it is better than Iams or Puppy Chow, but my dog is not doing well with it. From the label, it has higher protein than some of the other more generic brands, but my dog is getting bloated and having loose poop from it. Moreover.. the food gets dried easily and my dog looses interest in it.
Gen26 01/20/2008
My dogs love this food! We switched them slowly from Eukeneuba to Kirkland after reading an article and seeing that Eukeneuba (which we were paying over 40.00 for a 40 pound bag at the local pet health store) reveived an F grade and Kirlkland received an A+. Kirkland products have always been great and their dog food has been no different for our dogs. Plus if your pet doesn't like it, it is Costco, so you can always bring it back to the store for a full refund no questions asked! Definitely worth a try.
beezpic1 01/19/2008
Excellent food for the price, much better than anything you'll find at the big pet chains or grocery stores. I do recommend this food to people on a budget, however I've only ever used it for a short while for my Rottie, then I decided it was just as easy to feed him the Canidae that 2 of my Mini Pins get. If money ever got tight for me, I wouldn't hesitate to use this food, and as many others have pointed out, it's much cheaper than Science Diet, Iams, Royal Canin, and the like, and they are not even close to the quality of this food.
MollyMcScottie 01/06/2008
Most commerical foods have bioproducts and corn meal. Stick with an ultra premium from a nonbulk supplier - you'll get better qaulity
jimandbeamer 12/19/2007
Since I retired I wanted a companion to help me through those last days; so I picked a Cocker Spaniel. While I don't show him, we have made a team in Agility in these couple of years so it is necessary to feed him properly. In addition to his training we walk at least an hour a day (most days, an hour and half), to keep him in shape and to help with my medical problems. I have tried a lot of kibbles, and I know about Evo and other expensive brands - as well as healthy raw - but when it comes time for purchasing I return to Kirkland's Premium Lamb and Rice. I was a member of the old Price Club (back in 1976 - whew, that does date me!), and I have seen how this Costco genius works - and how they continue to upgrade their signature products. Yes, it may be that the manufacture of this product is by Diamond but it is the Costco's specs and it does not duplicate their other brands. Try to compare it to Sam's Club introduction of their new Exceed brand, and look at the first few ingredients: Lamb (very good), but then they load it up with Brewers Rice, Corn Gluten Meal, Poultry By-product Meal, Ground Wheat, and then Ground Yellow Corn. For a comparable discount price (apx. 50 cents a pound). Kirland starts with Lamb, then Lamb Meal and follows with Whole Grain Brown Rice, White Rice, Rice Bran, and Cracked Pearled Barley - for 373 calories a cup. While it may not come up to the standards of Innova (at 550 calories/cup), the price is three times that of Kirkland. But the amazing thing is that Beneful and Atta Boy, and even IAMs, are also sold - at a discount at Costco - and they cost nearly the same as Costco's brand Kirkland. And you only have to read their ingredients (forget their advertisements), to see how little they feel for our companions and how much they will put forward in their marketing. While Costco's Kirkland may not be found in a health food store for animals, with those Animal Nutritional Specialists in attendance (talk about self-marketing!), Costco's contibution to the well being of our animal companions is a good alternative, while saving money to pay for all of those premiums at the trials.
sukhoi27 12/18/2007
We have been using Kirkland's chicken and rice for about 5 years now. All 3 of our dogs (3 labs) are doing great. Wonderful shiny coats, no allergies and very healthy. Our vet is amazed as one of our labs had really serious skin allergies and this food has made all the difference in the world. Just cannot say enough good things about Costco and their products, especially this food.

My dogs did just fine on it for a while but we switched back to our regular food (gradually of course so as not to upset their GI tracts). It may not be the best food ever but it meets the needs and our dogs were just as happy and active as on their other food although there coats gota little dull looking for a little bit.
