loss of job 4

Worse has happened to me. But only did getting fired make me feel incompetent and emotionally stung for nearly a year.... They called me up and told me that I was stupid. But I knew that it was because I was a single lady thrown into the pit of four married women. I was a threat. I went over it again and again in my mind. Yep that one is a big one... I almost broke out in to profanity just now about it not being my fault. Their husbands liked the fact I dress like I am still a woman. It wouldn't have killed them to wear pantyhose once in a while lol.

it is pretty tough for us right now. MY husband lost his job after 23 years of devotion. through no fault of his own. the building closed down. his last day was the 8th of December. so this is a pretty dismal Christmas. We are trying to be optimistic but a lot of people have lost jobs in Michigan so it is pretty scary for us right now.when you are going through it and wondering what will happen, itis big. I am hoping he will get in somewhere. . but learned the hardway we will not be sharing that news with certain relatives.  UDATE: that was two years ago. after five months of job hunting he got a job in a call center. We were hoping this would be it even though it was for less money. that lasted 16 months and the company { think big telephone company} decided to not renew the contract at least that is what they claim. so at the end of September of this year we were unemployed once again. thankfully a new BETTER job was found and he started at the beginnnging of December. the last two years have been pretty awful. and stressful. we never thought we would have to go through this at our ages. we hope this new job will stick. being a great employee does not always promise a job. not in this economy and the way companies can close their doors, not renew a contract and lay you off permanantly. Michigan has been one of the worst hit in the nation. so this has been pretty terrible for thousands in our state. I know other states have their troubles as well.seems like all I want for Christmas is a job that sticks.

This was a strees ful time for me and my wife. About a year ago, She had just started a job with High Tech Institute, then they laid her and a bunch of others off 2 weeks after she started. For 9 months, she was looking for a job and her stress level went up, she was frustrated, depressed and angry. It took a toll on me because I could see how upset she was. I had to take care of both of us finacally, and emotionally. Thankfully, she got a job at her parents company in August.

When unexpected, it can be devestating, but I'm an optimist - the world won't stop turning, you'll find a better job, perhaps even better one.

This is not the end of the world. Sure, it's not a very pleasant experience, but you have to put it in perspective. Many times, in the long haul, it turns out to be a positive for your career. It might give you an opportunity to find something that truly fits your talents.

Regardless of whether or not it was one's own fault, losing your job sucks. I got terminated a year ago and I cried the rest of the day. It was just humiliating (I got terminated because I was rude to a few employees while working during "rush"....I was slinging hash in food service while in college). Normally, I'm not rude to anyone but I was just under a lot of stress and I was completely lethargic because I couldn't stay awake in ANY of my classes that day. I should've just called in sick.

It'd hurt a lot (if they're the ones who let you go); you'd feel like you're rejected, and that your work with them was not appreciated. However, there's a lot more things here that are worse, and sometimes you might find it better that you had cut your ties with them.

I have three jobs. Losing one would be a 2. Losing two of them at once would be a 3. Losing all three would be a 5... so I'll say 4.
