I like this place and all the ruckus that goes with it. The dancing, loud music, cracked peanut shells all over the place, etc. I don't like to be sat down in those teeny little tables built for two though! Both my husband & I are skinny and one of those still is not big enough for us to eat comfortably. They need better appetizer selections and better dressings for the side salads, and their chili is terrible! Love the Smothered chicken, Dallas Filet is great, but that is about it. Even the ribs taste like they've gone bad. The meals are not large, so you don't get full. It's fun, but nothing special about the food!

Union City, CA's Texas Roadhouse was the best I have seen and ate at so far. Having to buy a meal of pulled pork plus carrots+broccoli with chili was the best thing to get for $9.99. It certainly filled me up and the food had great sweet taste. Sorry for shouting, I NEVER TASTED IT SALTY. It was filling; the chili was the best I tasted (Incredible!) and the pulled pork was cooked and marinated well. It is somewhat of a sporty atmosphere, but it does have its country and deep south cultures melded together to make this good restaurant. Hospitality and the service there were excellent and I will definitely want to go back there again!
To conclude, which other restaurant gives you peanuts?

We went to the Fairfield, CA location last night. They told us it would be a 45-60 minute wait so we went to the bar where everyone was very friendly and the drinks not too expensive. We were seated almost 2 hours later. The place was way too noisy, even without the music blaring, and almost intolerable when it was. The food was ok and a decent price, but everything was very SALTY. Salt cooked vegetables, salt on the potatoes (both potato skins and baked potatoes). Large portions of sides, bread, etc. Large clientele. A heart attack waiting to happen.

Until the new NC law that prohibits smoking in restaurants goes into full swing, Non-Smokers beware. The bar is the ceter/focal point of the restaurant as well as the smoking area. All the non-smoking seats are placed within 5-10 feet of the smoking area with no partition or ventilation to prevent the smoke from permeating throughout the whole restaurant. Also, when you order a steak, be ready for it not to be cooked to order. I ordered a steak medium and it came out raw....not rare but RAW, it was ICE COLD in the middle and burnt on the outside. So instead of cooking another piece of steak, the re-fired the same one, now the steak is bleeding all over my plate and tough as shoe leather.....heaven forbid you ask to speak to the manager, he rolls his eyes and doesn't care. Horrible experience. If you want to see the re-fired garbage they sent me, see for yourself.... http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq311/klockemy/1 246811550.jpg and http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq311/klockemy/1 246759883.jpg

I got the steak and chicken combo. the steak was about the size of a chicken nugget, no exaggeration. i thought they were joking when they brought it out. I refused to pay for it and told them to cancel my order if that was a steak. i told them i didnt order a steak nugget. Ponderosa has better steaks and better service, and thats not saying much. This place is pretty good. If you don't like country music, stay away!! Also, ALWAYS call ahead for a table. If you don't, the wait will generally be around 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

I have never had a steak there just because I don't trust steaks that aren't made at a family-owned steakhouse (like Jack's in Tinley Park, IL)

However, the other food is fairly good. The grilled portobello chicken is good, especially with mashed potatoes for the side. The baked potatoes are decent, and the rolls are great!

Even so, the burgers are not very good. They tend to be rather dry and the bun they are served on is so large that all you can taste is bread.

This would not be my first choice if I had an option to eat anywhere I wanted, but it's certainly not terrible.

(On a side note, if you're wanting to go to Texas Roadhouse but there is a Logan's Roadhouse also nearby, go to Logan's. It's quite a bit better!!)

We've eaten there several times, service sucks as$. Food was average. We have ordered for "Pickup" and every time our order was missing more than one item if not an entre. This is the restaurant in Elk Grove CA on Calvine/Orchard loop. Employees are obviously incompetent. Tried to give the a second and even third chance but each time the screw it up. Obviously management has no idea how to screen for good employees. So if you want shltty service and have items missing in your order consistantly, this is the restaurant for you.

I don't see what people see in this restaurant. I gave them three chances to change my mind, and every time, they failed. I have eaten their best ribs, best steak, even their salads failed. The prices are high, the servings are very small, the food is just average. For me it is not worth the time or money. I will never go back. If anybody thinks this restaurant is a good place to eat, then, they have never eaten at a good restaurant.

Chain is going down hill. Have had several decent dinners at one location in Brockton Ma. Took my daughter and four of her college friends for dinner in Everett Ma and the service was terrible and the steak was overcooked.

The food was good, it came quickly as well.
But... the wait was horrible, when i got there they said 45-60 min.
The wait was horrible! it took to hours to get seated. It was a new store, but this was no excuse. I watched as the waiting room filled up and emptied 6 TIMES! as people who cam in after us were seated because their party was larger than ours. i had a party of 3, all parties of 2 and 4 were seated ahead of me EVERY time, my wife bugged them 3 times about it. then, on top of it. the entrance way was so packed that we had to fight to get to the bar to refill our 5$ sodas.
as i walked out of the store to go home after we ate, i ran into a friend who was in a party of 4, they waited for 30 minutes and the store was still packed with people waiting to be seated. I will never go back.

just be warned, they are looking to make the money, the more people you have the quicker you will be seated, but the smaller your party, the longer it will take. i saw a party of about 8 get seated in 15 minutes.

I had high hopes for Texas Roadhouse, as I had heard good things from a few friends. Plus, any place with a two hour wait must be good, right? Wrong!

First, the atmosphere was cheesy. Some sort of quasi-western, wannabe cowboy bar/restaurant. The waiters and waitresses would occasionally line dance, which was an absolute joke, none of them knew how to (understandable so, who in MA lines dances?). But if you're not going to teach them well, let them spend their time tending to the paying customers, not putting on some horrid show of their lack of dancing skills.

The food. The ribs had more fat than meat. Between my girlfriend and I, we ate less than half a rack then couldn't continue. On to the Buffalo wings, wait, or maybe not buffalo. Aren't buffalo wings supposed to be spicy? There were not at all. The green beans tasted like they came out of a green giant can. The mashed potatoes were okay, pretty bland though.

I will never go back to this place.

Obviously you folks havent visited the location in Alliance OH. When they say fall off the bone ribs, they mean it. The green beans and homeade rolls are the best. service is excellent and nothing less is expected.

and by the way, the only steak they use marinade for is the kabob.

I've visited the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant in Worcester, MA several times and every single time i've had an excellent experience. The food is always extraordinary, and the servers are always quick and very kind. If any of you are speaking of this particular Texas Roadhouse and give it a 1-star rating, then you should not be listened to. Also, for those of you who are giving any restaurant a 1-star rating, have a logical argument and please at least spell right (Maggie, it's steak...not stake). Great restaurant and worth going too, it's fun too!

I have been to this restaurant before and thought it was pretty good. I only had 4 people with me that time. This time I wanted to take some family back. No that did not work. There was only 8 of us. 4 kids and 1 teenager and 3 adults. So we first go in and the music is so loud that the girls behind the counter had to keep asking me what I was saying. Finally they tell me that we can have 2 different tables and they dont have ANY idea how long the wait is or "you can cram in a 6 seater". We asked if they moved tables together they said no that is a fire hazard but we can put a chair on the end of the table. At this point there were 4 different girls trying to talk over the others and the music. They said they would get the manager to come and explain it. She came out and; just like the other girls looked to be about 15. She too said that it is not a fire hazard to have a chair the end of the table but you cant put tables together. This must be the only restaurant that I have ever been to that does not put table together. So we went to the Japaneses Steakhouse instead.

One of the most horrific crimes is the killing of police officers, who protect and serve us all. Not so for Texas Roadhouse. Visit this link to learn this restaurant's response to the death of two officers in the line of duty:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/roadhouse.a sp

You may be tempted to chalk this up to the jerk who managed this particular outlet of this chain. But I think the slowness of the corporate response is much  more telling. Enjoy your next steak.

Walking into the restaurant and seeing the case presenting thick, hand cut steaks made my heart glow eagerly. Any restaurant that knows enough to cut a steak thick must know enough to prepare it well!

I ordered the 12 ounce ribeye, one of the finest cuts of beef in the cow, well marbeled meat pakced with marvelous flavors. The bread was so wonderful, that my mouth watered for what was sure to be a wonderful meal.

When the waitress brought my steak to the table, my heart dropped. Where was the thick hand cut steak so proudly displayed in the case up front? What they brought to the table was a thin shaving of steak with the dreaded diamond criss cross pattern so common to low end steak houses. At that point, I knew that what I was served was a dreaded, over-marinated serving of tangy mush beef.

Fans of marinade love it because it makes meet "so tender". What they don't realize, I'm sure, is that marinade rips apart the meet proteins and replaces the flavor of natural beef with the tanginess of the vinegar or marinade agent.

Marinades are used when you have a piece of low quality, tough meat that you need to tenderize just to make it edible. Claims that the meat is "tender" and excitement over the fact that it "falls apart when I touch it with my fork!" are only evidence of a horribly prepared steak.

A good quality cut of steak is packed full of flavor and provides a chewy texture.

For my money, I might as well get a steak at Ponderosa as get one at Texas Roadhouse.

For those of you who find my post curious and wonder what a good steak actually tastes like, I recommend that you visit your local Ruth's Chris or Morton's. If you live in the country, I understand you might not have access to good steak, and my heart goes out to you. The best thing to do is go to Sam's club or Costco, buy a vaccuum sealed whole beef tenderloin, and visit foodnetwork.com to review Alton Brown's preperation recipies for Filet Mignon. It won't cost anymore than the roadhouse and the results will be fabulous.

Even though I have been disappointed by Outback time and time again, I say they do a better job than texas roadhouse. At least they don't marinate their steaks.

Of course, steak lovers like their steaks medium-rare. If you're the kind of person that likes a steak well done, then marinade usually helps prevent the toughness that comes with drying a steak out. If so, then you might love the Texas Roadhouse.

I have been to Texas RoadHouse 3 times. The first time it was new so the wait was deemed necessary (1.5 hours). The second time we went super early and got right it. This last time I finally took an honest look around and asked myself what I was trying to get out of the place. I had a gift certificate and without that, I would never go back. 90 minute wait for dinner? Seriously, there are other restaurants with better food, shorter waits, and less imitation atmosphere within 90 minutes of my house.

We have tried to go there 3 times. The first time, there was a 2 1/2 hour wait... They recommended coming back at a earlier time. The second time there was a 2 hour wait... They recommended calling before coming. The third and last time, we called only to be told they don't do reservations. It might have been useful to mention that they do call ahead seating, but they didn't do that. I hope for their sake that the people that have been successful in getting into their restaurants are enough to keep them going in the future.

I love the food at the Texas Roadhouse.  I have never been served a bad meal there.  The prices are midrange.  I like the fact that they give you unshelled peanuts while you wait for your order to be served.  I dislike that some of the other patrons who spit peanut shells on the floor instead of in the handily supplied bucket.  This isn't the restaurant's fault though.  Some people are just not classy.  I haven't had the same terrible service experiences that some of the previous reviewers had so I must assume that the Roadhouse near my house hires from a slightly deeper part of the gene pool.  I'v also never noticed the overtly country redneck atmosphere other reviewers talk about.  Perhaps my local franchise tones it down a bit because of the geographic location (NJ).

The food was great. The first and only time I went there I took my sister there for her birthday. The waiter spilt the whole drink on the table and my sister. His basic concern was to get us another drink but didn't wipe up the table, we did. I had to ask 3 times for him to take the buckets with our wet napkins and ice from the spilt drink away. About 5 minutes after we got our food he came back asking if we needed any thing else or a box for our food. He never asked us if we wanted the 14 oz steak or 16 oz. So I don't know what we got because I never recieved an itemized bill, just the balance. He never asked us if we wanted desert. We would have got some since it was my sisters bithday but by that time we had enough of the bad service.

Texas Roadhouse in West Haven, CT....

Great place to have a fun afternoon with friends. Very casual. The food is AWESOME. My cuz had the steak and I had the grilled salmon. It was one of the best meals I've ever had. Loved the music... then again, I am a country music fan.

There are only two things I did not like (and that's why it's not rated 5 stars), FIRST: the dirt on the floor is not exactly a good look, I didn't like that at all;

SECOND: the service wasn't good - - the waitress absolutely ignored my prescence, she would only speak to my male cousin, flirting, etc... which I found rude since she didn't know who I was, I had to really get her attention if I wanted something. (Wrong move since I was the one paying), of course it was probably that particular bimbo... so we'll see what happens next time I visit.

We recently had a really bad experience at the Texas Roadhouse located in Elk Grove, CA location. This was our first time going to this restaurant. We called ahead of time and the person we spoke with told us there wasn't a waiting time. We drive down there and when we arrived about 30 minutes later. The hostess couldn't of possibly been more rude. She pretty much told us they do not accomodate large parties (we were a party of 6) and they do not join tables. She didn't even give us the option of breaking up into smaller groups...she pretty much 'turned us away'. To make matters worse, she told us there was going to a 2 to 2 1/2 hour wait to be seated....after we called about 30 minutes prior and were told that there wasn't a waiting time. ??? There wasn't that many people and we saw quite a few empty tables. We weren't going to get into a discussion with her (why in the world would we pay for such horrible service ???). Anwyways....we ended up drving across the highway and going to LOGAN'S ROADHOUSE, where we were greeted and accomodated in a friendly and timely manner. It's a shame that we had such a bad experience there...it seemed like a nice place. They just need to get nicer hostesses. Thanks!

Recently, my granddaughter was given a certificate to your restaurant by her school, but have tried for two (2) weeks to obtain seating for six (6) persons, only take seating for five (5) maximum. Plus the waiting time is over fortyfive (45) minutes, children under 8 do not have patience to wait a long time to eat. Great that your company supports local school achievements with a certificate to your restaurant. A special program or seating needs to be put into place for the those receiving said certificate. The certificate will expire soon and the pleasure of eating at your restaurant will not be experienced by my granddaugther. Restaurant is located in Clarksville, IN

(based on 4-5 visits in Gainesville, FL location) It's right by my apartment, and sometimes I just need a decent steak. This is a reliable place to get one. ATMOSPHERE: 3/5. The first thing you'll notice is the layer of peanut shells on the floor. All over the place. I really mean it. But, oddly enough, it really doesn't bother me. My mom would freak. My dad would love the place. They've got these pails (some of 'em rusty) filled to the brim with peanuts. People just crack 'em open and flick the shells on the floor with gusto. Me? I can't bring myself to do it; I put the shells on the little plate on the table. Otherwise, the wood-panel walls are cozy, but nothing special. If country music or football bothers you too much, you probably won't like it too much. I'm fine with it, though. SERVICE: 4/5. Nothing special, consistant, never rude. It's very laid-back. FOOD QUALITY: 4/5. Pretty decent steak, especially for a chain. It's NEVER overcooked. And the ribs are the second best I've had (a far second, but worthy nonetheless). The meat just slips off the ribs. The sides are okay; the chili's good, the baked beans are dry (avoid!), the baked potato is standard, the rice is decent enough, the mixed veggies are alright. And I particularly like the dinner rolls; very soft, warm, and kind of sweet. I've never saved room for dessert yet, though. FOOD QUANTITY: 4/5. Fair, especially for the price. I always leave with leftovers. PRICE: 4/5. Fifty bucks will cover dinner for two and tip easily. OVERALL: Just a bit under 4/5, but it gets extra consideration for its consistency. Definately a place I'd frequent regularly.

This just came to town. I was not impressed. Over priced/ undertaste chain resturant steaks in a steak town is not a good idea.

Texas Roadhouse 1

I shouldn't bash this place based on one experience, but after one trip there, I just can't force myself back through the door. Not when Logan's Roadhouse is so close by. I must say this place is a horrible excuse for a restaraunt. The food was bad, the staff was incompetant, and the only thing I found good about the experience was that the beer was cold( even though it was not the beer I ordered!) Find another place to dine and you won't be sorry.

I would give it a 5 except for the loud music. I love the peanuts, my steak (usually the ribeye) and baked potato are consistently wonderful. I like this place better than Outback. The only drawback, how loud the music is. I hate missing half the coversation at the table (I'm in my 30's, and my hearing tests at 1.2, which is almost unheard of (pardon the pun)) and I have a hard time hearing what people are saying because of the noise. I think the food is great; however, the music level is way too much! Wouldn't recommend for a large group who likes to talk.

A pretty good steakhouse. You can't get a better porterhouse steak for the price. beats out Black Angus, as far as I'm concerned. I appreciate the casual atmosphere.
