I agree with Classic on this, Accuweather's mission to stop the National Weather Service from being able to publicly provide weather information FREE so they can increase their profits is not the best thing for the public. I understand they want to make a dollar but the National Weather Service is a free service and when money drives the business the tax paying public will suffer. Many county agencies rely on the free service the National Weather Service provides and for them to have to start paying fees the taxpayer will have to belly up. If Accuweather wants to be in the business, fine, but leave National Weather Service alone.

By principle, I cannot give Accuweather a truly good rating. At this point in time, they are trying to stop the National Weather Service from being able to publicly provide weather information--instead they want to privatize the weather business (unlike social security, weather information does NOT need privitaization). That aside, their site does provide several things that others do not. Although not 100% reliable (no forecast beyond seven days truly is), their 15-day forecast can provide a general idea of an extended forecast. Several of their forecast maps and discussions are unique as well. Their "voice generated" forecasts, however, are very basic and not very functional.
