Are all of you really that ridiculously against something that has no effect on you at all? I have had my tongue pierced for two years and unless I tell someone that I have it done that cannot tell (I am male). I speak no differently than when it was not, and I do not play with it when I am speaking with anyone. I respect peoples' opinions on the matter. Some girls find it attractive, others do not. The majority of them accept me for who I am behind the jewelry and in the end find it rather interesting and/or satisfying. I tell all of them it was something I did out of curiosity, as it was, they understand, and some believe oral sex is improved while others do not even notice. It is not the tongue or the ring, but the connection between two people. This is a personal choice and everyone is entitled to their own opinion I understand, but I do not think that the majority of us who have made the choice to have a needle stuck through our tongue appreciate comments telling us how disgusting or negative a choice it may be. We all take risks at some points in our lives... one of mine happened to be that my tongue may get infected just for a little decor, silly to some; unique and appealing to others. Please accept that everyone makes decisions about these types of things based on their own opinions and do not judge someone for something unless you have truly experienced both sides. If we would all take even a few extra moments to hear the argument of the ones opposing us we would all be that much wiser and get along that much more. I refuse to argue with anyone about the yes' and nos, risks and safeties, or rights and wrongs of such a personal choice. But I will always take the time to hear their opinion IF THEY HAVE LOGICAL AND RESPECTFUL SUPPORT FOR IT. We can all learn amazing things from each other if we simply take the time.I wish you all success and happiness as you may perceive it...

Ok. Well I have my tongue pierced and have had it done since i was 14. Please note that I am 22 now. I have absolutely no problems talking and My breath does not stink. If you take care of it and take it out and brush your tongue you have no problems with it. And the only people who click and clack them are the people whom just had it pierced and are not exactly used to it yet. And yes it DOES make oral sex better. And IT IS NOT PAINFUL in any way!!!!!! I am Terrified of needles. So tot hose whom think it is Dumb or unattractive OBVIOUSLY dont know what the hell GREAT ORAL is HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I hate when you're having a conversation with someone and they're flicking their tongue ring around, or the waitress leans over and offers to show you something on the menu and her tongue ring's about poking out your eye- and how unsanitary is that? It does too affect how people talk as they seem to speak as doh dey hev ha twollen dung. Nothing like a fad like this for someone wanting to be an individual to jump on.

Believe me oral sex is better. Ask my wife. Anal rimming becomes better too. The mouth is very quick to heal so I would recommend it to anyone. take anti inflam tablets beforehand and every four hours afterwards and you will not have a problem. My penis ring hurt more and was more inconvenient

All these people commenting are clueless, I'm 26 Male, and have a tounge stud. It's painless to get. And it only sore while healing for 4~7 days after. It hurts more when you bite your tounge, Really. It does not effect how you talk, and is not that visable unless you go out of your way to show it.

Ouch! Doesn't that hurt?

No multi-tasking for Candice! I thought this said "toe ring"; :) Anyway... Same goes, I guess. There are worse things but I honestly don't see the point. Maybe a few years ago I'd have said something diff. as I DID get my belly button done, but things change.

How do you eat with that in your mouth?????
CastleBee 06/22/2006
Why...for the sake of pretentious fad and as a sign of pointless rebellion? Even if I didn't think this was completely silly looking, fashion isn't something I would ever consider important enough to actually suffer for.
Donovan 06/22/2006
I say don't! Whether it's a ring or a stud, the people who have these tend to constantly move the thing around in their mouth. I know I just don't get it, but to me it is not only dumb, but also painful!
Jed1000 06/22/2006
Is this a typo? I've never seen a tongue ring. Studs, yes.. rings, no. Sounds kind of unwieldy.. but to each his own.

What's the purpose for this?

a complete and utter turn off. I have a hard time even looking at one of these. Of all the things you can have pierced why would you do this and better oral sex is just not worth all that. If it gets infected you will be in a world of hurt and since a human mouth is not the cleanest thing in the world chances are good that it will eventually get infected.
kattwoman 11/12/2005
it makes you talk funny. its like talking with your mouth full. unnecesary inflicted pain.
Bird808 10/21/2005
I'm not going to give an answer thats going to judge and stereotype the people that wear these, but look at the medical implications something like this does to your body. The tongue is a lot more sensitive than people think. Eventually it doesn't look good to have your tongue pierced as your breath starts to stink due to all the food that gets trapped around the area where the hole is and it can get infected easily.

NO.
Sundiszno 10/13/2005
Probably just an additional indicator of just how immature and insecure the wearer is when they open their mouth to speak (i.e., I wonder what they are able to articulate in the first place).

These are for all the young insecure bimbos, titty dancers or "goth" weirdos out there starving for attention and writing bad poetry. Never a classy thing to do at any age.

How can they talk?
