1909 Boston Braves (45-108-2) 5

4.5 An awful and faceless bunch- none of the guys who played for the 1914 champs, one of the most unlikely Series winners of all time were there yet. The Braves were probably the most consistent winners in the NL for the entire 19th century with many pennants, and some of the biggest stars of the era, but then they got old and were terrible almost every year in the early 20th century, with particularly feeble hitting. This was possibly the worst of their many bad seasons in that era. The only players of any real note on the squad were Ginger Beaumont, who'd been a good player with Pittsburgh, and Bill Dahlen, a very good shortstop with Brooklyn and the Giants. Both were over the hill, and the rest of the team was almost totally comprised of kids and no names. An awful team.
