1912 New York Highlanders (50-102-1) 4

Quite possibly the worst team in the history of The Yankees, a team that finished something like 54 games out of first place. Kind of ironic in a way, as the Red Sox had their best team ever in terms of wins-105. There were a few good players on this squad- Russ Ford was a pitcher who lost 21 games that year but had won 26 in 1910, Jack Quinn had a very, very long career that ended when he was almost 50, Ray Fisher had a solid career, and Hippo Vaughan had a very good career, in fact, he was one of the best pitchers in the N.L. with the Cubs later on in that decade. The pitchers weren't so bad, but the hitting was subpar at best- the biggest, and really the only star on this team, was first baseman Hal Chase, a good hitter and allegedly an amazing fielder- who is regarded as perhaps the most crooked player ever for throwing lots of games. A bad team, not among the worst ever, for one thing, this club should've done a little better than it did: but either this team or the 1908 one was the worst Yankee team.
