It's a matter of what's in the heart because that's what the Lord looks at is our hearts. And knowing Jesus makes me happy.

I do not care for religion. If you are going to church just to say you've gone then you are wasting your time. God does not want your religions he wants a relationship with you. We are living in the "Church age"; this is biblical from the book of Daniel. Daniel's prophecy (vision) spoke of seventy sevens. There is a time of seventy times seven years before the end of the biblical tribulation. Sixty-nine of these groups of seven years has passed and that puts us in the "Church age" which is a time when the church (God' people) are to go out and spread the news of Christ. After this unknown time then comes the tribulation. I have said all of this to say you should get you heart and life in order. No one knows the day or hour of Christ's return. Develop a relationship with God and he will never leave or forsake you.

I would say that Religion can be very positive or very negative.Historically,it has caused a lot more harm than good.People who fight Wars in the name of their "Religion" are NOT spiritual at all.To me,Spirituality is ones PERSONAL relationship with the Divine (however you choose to concieve of divinity) and "religion" is a formalized and traditional "group" practice of spirituality. Many people have full, happy, rewarding and altruistic lives without any religion or spiritual beliefs at all.The worst thing about Religion is that it has been used by people in power to control the masses, more often than not to further their own selfish ends.In that form,I'd give it a big,fat ZERO!!On the other hand,I've met lots of people who find solace and strength through their Religion, and I'd not take that away from anyone.

I don't find religion satisfying either. Believe it or not, I am not a religious person and I am not in any religion as far as I am concerned. I find religion to be judgmental, full of do's and donts for no good reasons, boring and restrictive. No I am not religious. Instead I have the thing which religion is trying to imitate, and that is a personal relationship with God through Jesus. God is real, not just a formulated way of doing things. Yes, there are things in the Bible which religion has taken out of context and looks restrictive, but since I have read my Bible properly, (not in the spirit of looking to criticise it), I find the reasons why God puts restrictions on some things. There is a really good and logical reason for why God does things and why we can't do certain things. Religion just says don't do this for no reason, but God says not to do something because if you do, you will harm yourself and other people. If you think God is restrictive, children who aren't nearly as smart as their parents think they are restrictive too, until the grow up one day and realise why their parents did what they did (good parents) then they thank the parents for not allowing them to hurt themselves, and place the same 'restrictions' onto their children. TRUE Christianity is not a religion, but a relationship with the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. But if anyone calls themselves a Christian yet is full of hypocrisy and these oppressive rules with no meaning, full of judgment and hatred, then I question whether they are true Christians. Observing religion will not make you happy, but I've learnt that obeying God makes me happy, very happy. It makes me feel free and things just start working out for me. But religion doesn't do that. The only time the Bible mentions religion in a positive light is in the book of James, where it says that true religion is practical and helps widows, the homeless and needy.

I don't find it satisfying at all because I am too inquisitive and cannot take things on faith. I also find it disillusioning that most of the churches I've attended have been glorified country clubs, and I find it sad that religion is often a means of persecuting people who are different.

Well, obviously, for some it is satisfying; there's a lot of people out there who are religious, and I hope they wouldn't be into it if it made them unhappy. As long as it's not hurting anyone, I don't have a problem with it.

There are some that find a true sense of satifaction- but a distrubing and noticeable percentage use religion as a crutch to hide a lack of education, a sense of fear, and a mistrust and intense dislike of those different than themselves.

I don't find it satisfying because there is never anything which is definite. It is totally open ended and based entirely on faith. I guess I am just too pragmatic for this course of study.

I'm not sure "religion" as a stand-alone term, is satisfying. But, an awful lot of people participate in it for some reason. For me, it is a community of like-minded people who try to reinforce each others' faith. How odd to rate it a "1" and leave no comment. I guess that's unhelpful.
