Unquestionably belongs at or near the top of this list.  Not exactly a "scientist" in the ring, Dempsey came at opponents like a fierce animal gone berserk, seemingly immune to pain, and slamming them with hands like steam shovels.

It is difficult to rate the fighters of the past but I will tell you if iwas ever in a barfight(again) Dempsey would be the one I had at my back. he was fierce, hit hard with both hands, took a good punch and had a lot of class who had to fight his way up through some tough places. I think he would be the world champion today if he had the proper training.
