Would you want your podiatrist to do open heart surgery? Would you want to see Stephen Colbert on 60 Minutes? Would you want a railroad engineer to design a skyscraper? Then why would you want a corporate lawyer to do constitutional law?

I am somewhat skeptical of a nominee who has to take a crash course on constitutional law and jurisprudence prior to going before the Senate for her confirmation hearings. In my view, a nominee should have some background in academia or in the judiciary. She did deal with some of these issues as White House Counsel, but not nearly enough.
