To understand what the excitement was all about, I watched from time to time. Then I started to run into blogs and reviews of poor mopes who actually are citing this guy as authority for this and that.
I think that the comedy is infantile, and I conclude that functional illiteracy and being somewhat clueless are prime criteria for enjoying this show.

I've always thought Colbert was immensely talented, funny, and had balls to boot, but I never thought he'd be able to sustain the premise of this particular show; making sport of a guy, Bill O'Reilly, who is already a joke all on his own. Surprisingly, Colbert has succeeded. I don't watch the show regularly, but when I do tune it, I always laugh. Funny guy, funny show.

Colbert has me in utter hysterics for a vast proportion of his show. I often share clips from The Colbert Report with my friends the next day if I remember (despite the fact that comedy central REALLY doesn't get the concept that making show clips immediately available will actually help them spread by word of mouth). My favorite segments are The Word and his longer, pre-recorded interviews.

He pulls absoloutely no punches, makes fun of everyone and anything, always amazes me he can actually find people to interwiew, especially republicans. Anyone who hasn't seen it should look up the speech he makes at the 06 white house inaugeration dinner, little old, but I find it hilarious. I think one of the best satirists around today.

much funnier than Daily Show!

I enjoy the Colbert Report far more than I do the Daily Show at this point. Colbert's ability to stay in character is truly impressive. He does a great job of playing the blow-hard, political commentator.

Stephen Colbert is the man. He and Jon Stewart speak the uncomfortable truths that no one wants to hear -- and they manage to be funny too. Colbert completely burned W at that press dinner, it was awesome!

This guy is genius. It's amazing at how well he exposes the idiocy of the extreme political machine that has become our mainstay.

stephen is brillant! His intelligent sarcasm directed at the idiocy of Fox News has me in stitches every night!

A great show. The Hannity to Stewart's Colmes. The introduction blatantly shows you everything the nuts at Fox are trying to sneak into your head (not very sneakily). I love the constant self-promoting, condescension, questions with the appearance of choice but really none, bears as a threat to America. Its the O'Reilly Factor but with the intention of being funny (watch this post show up on the "Factor" so he can rebuke me). The other night Colbert yelled at Emily Yoffe, a journalist from Slate, "YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH" all the while keeping a straight face. It was hilarious.

Colbert Report has a style all its own. I love his "dead to me" list and different things like that he does in his show. Hes not too serious and he is really good at keeping a straight face when he says some of the craziest stuff ever.

He is beating jon's show. Stephen is much funnier and is it only me or after colbert left daily show, the daily show is not funney at all (except when they have Rob Cordery)

Colbert kicks ass. I think he's actually has the chance of stepping completely out of Stewart's shadow and being the bigger of the two. His show is more peronality driven than Stewart's, and he does it well. Really funny show.
