I too loved him in "the man in the iron mask" but I also really liked "green Card" with Ande McDowel. In France he was very popular before becoming known in the states. He is quite good.

Probably far from his best movie, but I loved his rendition of Porthos in the Man with the Iron Mask.

'Cyrano de Bergerac', 1980. Too many lackluster choices ('Camille Claudel'; 'The Last Métro'; 'The Moon in the Gutter', etc.) make his movies a hit-or-miss proposition but, at his best, as in 'Danton'; 'Jean de Florette'; 'The Return of Martin Guerre'; 'Tous les Matins du Monde'; or 'The Woman Next Door', Depardieu rates among the best.
