How did Dairy Queen get pregnant ? Burger King forgot to wrap his whopper. The cuisine is worse than this old joke.

Tried the new owners of the DQ in Van. Texas. This was the worst DQ I have ever been too. The GM Jason Allred is very rude along with alot of other employees at this location. The food was under cooked and fries were very cold. This location also puts salt on all burgers, the GM Jason Allred says, "it gives it flavor". This Location is owned by DQ of Tyler which has other locations in and around the area, but this one is by far the worst and I will not suggest anyone to dine at this filthy place.

In high school, my friends and I partook of our "lunch" at the local DQ nearly every day (that was a time when I could consume a banana split for lunch, and drink beer-and-shots at night, and not gain a pound). In later years, it was convenient when I was on the run and needed something solid in my stomach (if it came down to a contest between fast-food hamburgers or fast-food ice cream, ice cream always won). In recent years, my patronage of fast-food restaurants of any kind has become virtually non-existent. Once in a blue moon, though, I'll have something at DQ. Just last week, my birth-mother and I were driving around in her area of north NJ, she got a yen for some DQ ice cream, and I wasn't adverse to the idea. I had the "Peanut Buster" whatever-you-call-it. Not bad or nauseating, as a McDonald's or Burger King "mystery meat" burger would have been...and it certainly satisfied my always active sweet tooth...but in my old age I've become something of an ice cream connoisseur, and I found the DQ stuff to be pretty bland and tasteless, quite frankly. Assuredly, it's made from some sort of chemically-concocted "powder" that can be whipped up into ersatz "ice cream" in no time flat. Not like the old stone barn in Wyckoff that I remember from my childhood where they made it up fresh. Then again, if I absolutely HAVE to have "fast-food" (which is exceedingly rare at this point), I always prefer DQ over Dunkin' Donuts or McDonald's or whatever other corporate chain nightmare they have infesting the landscape out there.

I did not eat there

I love their Frosties!
Doctor of Madness 12/08/2008
Above average offerings as fast food goes. They are on the rise unlike much of their competition.

Most of the people think about ice cream when they think about Dairy Queen. Not me. Being lactose intolerant I only visit them for their burgers and fries, and occasionally their chicken strips. I have to say that on the burger department, Dairy Queen has been vastly underated. Their burgers are definitely no worse than McDonald's and granted that McDonald's burgers are not stellar, but just think how many people visit McDonald's each day and order their burgers. Their fries are no worse than Wendy's and most of the people would agree that Wendy's fries are decent enough. Price wise, due to the lower sale on their burgers and fries, you can often eat there for much less even than the McDonald's these days.

Great as far as ice cream goes. Pretty awful in the burger department. Make that disgusting in the burger department.
vikingscool 10/16/2008
They have terrible food service nowadays. I wish I can go there, but I don't need it anymore. Because McDonalds now offering Reese's Peanut Butter cup is now onMcFlurry, that is good. But Culvers are always better for putting a Reese PB cups.

I remember on a road trip w/my cousin and uncle, they only stopped at fast food places...it killed my arteries. However, DQ is good.

don't buy the ice cream sandwiches. taste real artificial (because they are)and they're so thin. best to buy elsewhere.
Katrinabena 07/27/2008
The prices are good at Dairy Queen and I love the desserts but the food overall is nothing to brag about.

Their malts are good :o)
scarletfeather 06/20/2008
It seems like their food tasted better when I was a kid. Back in the day, my high point of the weekend was grabbing a chocolate-covered ice cream cone after church. I'm not a big fan of theirs anymore, but I'll give them 4 stars for the memories.

I like the Blizzards, You don't have to chew.
Spike65 06/20/2008
Before they switched to the DQ Brazier format, they were generally terrific. That was in the 1960's. Since then, I only by the ice cream treats. The peanut buster parfait and the fudge browny delight are great. Just don't eat very often or you will be huge!
Sabresbabe 06/08/2008
AWESOME - love this place. since i was old enough to eat!

My all time favorite

Dairy Queen's food is underrated. Unfortunately, every Dairy Queen restaurant I've ever been in is filthy! Did they institute a corporate mandate that the tables should never be cleaned and the trash should never be picked up? And what about the flies? Still, I like the food, and the ice cream is good as well. (And now I'm feeling nauseous.)

I love their ice cream...everything else can go away
GenghisTheHun 04/17/2008
I do like a DQ product from time to time.
MariusQelDroma 04/17/2008
Beyond the Blizzard, I don't see much of a point in going to DQ. I can hear the ice cream and Oreo cookies calling me, though... :)
numbah16tdhaha 04/17/2008
Ice Cream good. Food... Ehhh.
UPDATE: I could use a Blizzard right now...
twansalem 04/17/2008
Their ice cream is good but not great. Their sandwiches, though really seem to vary in quality from store to store.
Dishwallafied 04/14/2008
Their food is mediocre, but I looooove their ice cream. Chocolate Oreo Blizzard...mmmm. Too bad I don't live near one anymore...at least not one that has chocolate ice cream.
Mr.Tuner 03/04/2008
Overall they are pretty good. I got a little sick of it though because I used to work there.I created my own blizzard while I worked there. It contains the following: Chocolate ice cream, cocoa fudge, chocolate syrup and a lot of brownie pieces. It tastes just like the brownie batter blizzard that they stoped making!
trebon1038 02/17/2008
four stars for the best frozen treats around, but for food...nah, Ill pass
XAgent 11/08/2007
I'm a big fan of the Blizzard. That and the... No, just that.
