Good to know for yourself and others.

As I said about CPR; the average person may never have to deal with a situation (other than a band-aid peroxide thing), but it's nice to know just in case something bigger than that happens to come up in your lifetime.

I think everyone should know the basics. Of course sometimes people know just enough to be dangerous. Handle the basics and know when you are dealing with an emergency. I was the daughter of a doctor and a nurse so I was pretty good in this area.

And by basic, even recognition of serious conditions such as severe bleeding, shock or breaks is implied.

I was blessed to be taught the basics in High School.I also recieved more advanced training in my employment.Several times,I've been very grateful to have a cool head and know what to do in a tight situation.

Great to know; everyday situations can bring up this skill. You never know when you'll have to treat a small burn wound, or even perform CPR. Skills can range in impact from preventing an infection to saving a life. I can't see where this wouldn't be useful.
