Its a great idea, but sometimes its nice to have a paper trail of somethings. Information is more likely to get erased or lost on computers than it is on paper.

I try but the state and federal government keep giving me unfunded mandates. They tell me because of the paper reduction act they are requesting documents monthly now instead of quarterly. I'm not a rocket scientist but I do know their request creates much more paperwork. Then they don't want just one copy they want multiple copies. That's our government for you!

Yes, sometimes

Yeah, but if you've ever been writing to deadline with no hardcopy and have something vanish into the big bitbucket in the sky, you lose your enthusiasm for the idea.

Sorry, but there's just something a bit more comforting about having a hard copy of a lot of documents.

Good luck with that. Try to tuck a computer under your arm when you are moving around while reading. How about when you are in many people's library, "the john?"

It's easy. One example is,use your junk mail and envelopes as "scrap paper"-you'll never buy a "note pad" again. There are several companies who make "tree-free" cards and envelopes from OTHER plant fibers and/or recycled paper.I refuse to buy anything else."Tree Free Greetings" in New Hampshire makes beautiful cards from Kenaf- a plant easily grown almost anywhere. They don't cost a bit more than other cards, and have superior artwork. There is NO reason to use trees for paper.

We try to keep as much in electronic form as possible, but there's still a need for the paper. I would rather see the daily newspapers stop using paper ... they use more paper than any office can.

Well, I can't go 100% without paper; you just can't replace a hard copy. But, I'll go to news sites instead of buying newspapers fairly often, and I prefer using e-mail over writing messages on paper or sending "snail mail". Some credit cards will credit your account if you choose to receive "electronic" forms of our statement instead of having one mailed to you, which is kind of nice (it's still a good idea to keep a copy, even if digitally, though).
