supply and demand. Then pretty soon the price of vegetables and vegetable oil will go up because we have to have it to fuel our cars.

Really , I've heard of people driving vehicles fueled by used fry grease from restaurants. It's a great idea for certain people who want to hassle with this.

Given the relative price, I'm contemplating converting to Vodka.
To go slightly off topic, I had a epiphenic moment a few weeks ago, standing in a coffee shop behind someone droning bitterly on about the price of gas. Then he stepped up to the counter and ordered a "double low-fat skimmed caramel macciato" which set him back $5.25 for 20 ounces, which he coughed up without a blink.

This just isn't practical for the average American who's slipping into poverty.

But I would in a heartbeat. Dad has a resturant so I would be sitting pretty.

A novelty solution that can get people's attention, but not something I'm up for trying.

I just watched an episode of Rob & Big in which they did this. Said Big, "go green or go home!" The problem, they found, is that there car reeked of french fries.

Unfortunately, not enough oil is around to run the country for ten minutes. This is a real pipe dream.

It's known as "biodiesel". It's kinda funny, because it reportedly emits that wonderful "fast food" smell ( . . . it'd be kinda gross if it smelt like french fries and Taco Bell everywhere I go). I wouldn't mind giving it a shot, but I think I'll go for a hybrid before I go for this.

If your car is runs on diesil it can be converted to run on used cooking oil but not if you have a gasoline engine. It does run much cleaner than other fuels that are available but it is not very common.

Vehicles can be easily and inexpensively converted to run on USED VEGETABLE OIL. Sounds too good to be true? It was recently even shown on network TV,and it's been done for YEARS.I have personally seen a School Bus that ran on veggie oil.Imagine, FREE FUEL!!!-(most restaraunts will gladly give away their old veggie oil). The only drawback seems to be that your vehicle will always smell like french fries. It costs about $600. or so for the conversion. For more info. go to greengreasemonkey.com
