ItemImageCharlie Rich was simultaneously one of the most critically acclaimed and most erratic country singers of post-World War II era. Anyone that has had the opportunity to listen to his records from the Sun or Philips International days can see that he was talented in the early days of rock-n-roll. Rock-N-Roll songwriters and even musicians were just beginning to surface in the 50's. His material was well above many of his contemporaries. He had an excellent singing voice, played the heck out of the piano, and had a pretty good pen, too. However, those days are forgotten and he remains remembered for his huge country success instead. He deserves to be in the country music hall of fame, but probably will never get there for his antics at the 1975 Country Awards Show.

I love country Charlie Rich, but that is why they have a Grand Old Opry. Silver Fox rest easy.
