I don't know that that's a tremendous injustice, however.
His stats certainly aren't in the "automatic" category, and his career, largely spent with losing teams doesn't help him, nor does his history of being a malcontent.
Having said all that, watching him put in one of his hundred curve ball a game performances was a great pleasure to me.

Blyleven's pair of World Series game victories, a no-hitter and an AL Rookie Pitcher of the Year award were apparently not enough to overcome his little better than 50% winning percentage and "iffy" reputation he earned as a player who sulked until was traded a couple of times.
In his defense, he did play for many years with some lousy teams.
