In Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas in 1989, Thomas Hearns got the chance to avenge what he considered the most painful/disappointing loss of his career (8 years earlier) to the former middleweight champion. Hearns was clearly the stronger of the two fighters at their new heavier weights, and he floored Sugar Ray in the 3rd and the 11th. He was awarded a draw for his efforts. (Add picture)

Not the worst boxing robbery of all time-but Leonard said he got his ass kicked.

This was a close, close pugilistic contest. Sugar Ray really pounded on "The Hitman" in two rounds, including the last. However, Hearns floored Leonard on two separate occasions. At this heavier weight, "The Motor City Cobra" (Hearns always had the coolest nicknames!) was clearly the physically stronger of the two former middleweights. This fight was competitive and a lot of fun to watch - and most experts called the fight for Hearns by a couple of rounds at its conclusion. Its just that these experts were not the ring judges who decided that the contest had been a draw.
