In Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas in 1989, Thomas Hearns got the chance to avenge what he considered the most painful/disappointing loss of his career (8 years earlier) to the former middleweight champion. Hearns was clearly the stronger of the two fighters at their new heavier weights, and he floored Sugar Ray in the 3rd and the 11th. He was awarded a draw for his efforts.
