He was in the Sex Pistols, but he didn't play on of any of the records.

He was not so much outrageous as ridiculous, yet he's more famous than Rotten, and 100 times more famous than the guy who wrote all the Sex Pistols music and played bass for real, GLEN MATLOCK.

Shot himself UP is how poor Sid died.

The dude probably killed his girlfriend along with thousands of pills, gallons of booze, and lines of coke that would have killed a rhino. . .

As a teenager, I idolized the Sex Pistols, and followed their short, turbulent career assiduously. Sid, born John Simon Ritchie, was their "bassist" (he allegedly once told Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead, "I really can't play, you know." Lemmy allegedly replied, "I know."). He was always the loose cannon; the band's goofy/dangerous Ringo Starr. When he was accused of killing his girlfriend Nancy Spungeon at NY's Chelsea Hotel, I was stunned. When he died a few months later, I was no longer so stunned. A sad, sad story, all around. His mother was supposedly the one who helped him partake of his last dose of heroin, and allegedly poured his ashes on Spungeon's grave in a Jewish cemetery near Philadelphia. There's a 1980 documentary on punk rock entitled "D.O.A." that features an attempted interview with an obnoxious, belligerent Spungeon and a nearly catatonic Vicious that is absolutely chilling.

Poor guy was the real item.He came from a really rough background,got addicted to Heroin,wound up famous for 15 minutes and self destructed.Unfortunately,many spoiled brats from well-to-do families try to emulate his persona.
