he might have started the odd flamingo style batting stance and it worked for him but that wasent the only reason he is the japanese home run king... japanese baseball fields were alot smaller than north american fields by about 40 to 80 yards, look at ichero he hit a career high 25 homers in japan but had only a 16 homer career high in the mlb and same with matsuei he hit 40 to 50 homers routienly and only had a career high of 31 as a yankee so sadaharu may have 850 homers but in my eyes he is only the japanese home run king

A legend in the Japanese leagues, and technically the world record holder for home runs.
Were he playing today, with MLB raiding Japanese baseball, and threatening to turn it into a farm system, there's no question he'd be starring for some AL or NL team.

Great addition to the list, git! He'd be the starter on my all-time team. More home runs than anyone, Hank Aaron included. Legs like oak trees and knew how to use them to generate power, much more important than arm strength. They say he studied samurai sword technique to improve his batting. Ironically, he's probably the best known player outside of Japan but his whole career played second fiddle to another Japanese great, Shigeo Nagashima.

Japanese League legend, kind of the Babe Ruth of that country.
