Ross Barnes 3

A very, very early player, mostly for the clubs who later became the Braves and Cubs. Fine hitter, though he benefitted from the fair/foul rule of the time, meaning that the ball was still fair even if it drifted into foul territory. Essentially finished as a player by the late 1870's, when he was still young, though he unsuccessfully attempted a comeback in the early 1880's. One of the biggest stars of the National Association, the predecessor to the N.L. of today.
