Up until he died, back in 1951, I would say there was no injustice at all. Likewise with the exclusion of Eddie Cicotte, who also has the stats to go in.

Now, however, more than half a century after he died, I would put him in. His ban from organized baseball was for life, and he served the sentence.

He, like Pete Rose, committed the ultimate sin in baseball, albeit from different motivations. Both of them should be in Cooperstown.

Posthumously.

I guess he's not in the hall for the same reasons Steve Garvey and Pete Rose are not in.

Hmm. . .fascinating thought. . .but not that big a travesty. Jackson was an illiterate redneck who got caught. . .sucks for him.

My understanding (and I AM NOT an expert on this incident in sports history) is that Shoeless Joe took the money for the fix from the gamblers/mobsters but that he played wonderfully in the Series. If he took the money he has rightfully been excluded from organized baseball. The same principles and logic that I apply to Pete Rose have to be used in regard to this gentleman as well. The integrity of the game trumps other concerns.
