3.5 A 20's/ 30's pitcher who mostly played with the Senators. Nicknamed "Firpo" after a resemblance to the fighter from Argentina that Dempsey fought. Marberry was one of the ancestors of the modern closer, but in his time, a guy might start a game one day and pitch in relief the next, or even in both frames of a doubleheader. A very valuable pitcher who won as many as 19 games. In Marberry's day, there wasn't a huge amount of saves, but he was rather easily the best reliever of his era, though he also started a lot. A fine, if obscure, pitcher.
