While interesting and certainly unique, this nihlist writer never seems to hit it out of the park. Often formulaic, he relies on clever endings that can be predictable and shock value that loses its punch. If you like Fight Club, just watch it again.

This guy is a freak, and I say that in the most complimentary way I can. The first book I read was Choke, which may be his best. I have since read Fight Club, Survivor and Lullaby. His writing is meant to shock and entertain, plus you can finish a book in a day or three with no difficulty. The only problem is he only has about 6 or 8 books. This is the perfect author for young males to read to get them into reading. His style is very terse, at times vulgar and always original. I very much recommend this Portland icon to anyone looking for good counter-culture, quick reads.
