Of course its important. Having the fewest runs allowed as you can is the main goal of any pitcher weather a starter, set up man or closer. A pitcher with a low ERA gives your team the best chance of winning so yea, its pretty important. A decent pitcher's ERA should be in the 2.00-4.00 range.
