I would put him one rung down on the ladder compared to the Pedros, Glavines, Schillings, and Madduxs of the world. He will be in there though.

Update: Moved himself a lot closer in the three seasons since I wrote my original comment. Now has 270 wins against 153 losses with a 20 win season in there. Seems to have discovered a new lease on life late in his career, and now looks more likely to get a plaque.
Original comment: I tend to think not. The numbers are good, but not great, and there are more guys with similar stats without a plaque than there are with one. Playing in NY will help his chances though.

Update: Mike Mussina finally got his 20 win season, and did it with an impressive 3.37 ERA. Thats one less thing people can criticize the Moose for. He is looking more and more like a Hall of Famer to me.
11/3/2005 - Mussina gets a lot of criticism for not winning the big games, but I have a hard time overlooking how consistently good he has been over his career. He will be around 300 wins when he retires, and has a 3.64 lifetime era, which is almost unheard of for a guy who pitched through the steroid/homerun era. He is also a classy guy who voters should want to put in Cooperstown for how he handled himself as a pro.

I'd say yes but it's close.

Kind of the Don Sutton of his era, in that he's consistent but never puts up huge win totals during the season , but I think the lack of even one 20 win season may very well hurt him if he never gets one.
