Update: Can't believe Maddux isn't higher up on this list. Maddux is now retired and eligible in 2014. He finished with 355 career wins, which is astonishing considering how the game is played these days. There really isn't an argument that he will be in on the first ballot. The only thing to wonder about is how many idiotic sportswriters won't include him on their ballot because they don't feel anybody should be elected unanimously. 11/3/2005 - Maddux was consistently excellent. He is now only an average pitcher, but for the decade of the 90's and going into the first few years of the new century, Maddux was consistenly one of the top 5 pitchers in either league. 300 wins makes Maddux a definite first ballot guy.

One of the best, most consistant pitchers of this era. He is great on and off the field. LOOK AT THE NUMBERS.

300+ wins, all on pure control. Absolutely in on the first ballot. Oh, and unlike "Rocket Roger", no 'roids. So "MadeInCanada", you're right, he's not as good as Clemens...he's miles better!

better than Glavine, R. Johnson, but not as good as Rocket Roger.
Go CUBS!

He has amazing control even though he doesn't throw hard. He had 14 or 15 consecutive seasons of 15 wins or more. I'm humbled every time I see him pitch. He may not have the intimidation factor of Randy Johnson or Roger Clemens, but he'll be first ballot for sure.

OK, try to keep up. There are no, repeat NO, 300 game winners that are not in Cooperstown. The pattern isn't going to change with this guy.First ballot selection.
