An amazing pitcher. Like that guy only every 20 years one born.

With the cheating and arrogance he has less of a chance of getting in than Brian Doyle

If this was on the list before 2007 it would be a no brainer. Alot of people see Clemens in a different light now. Even though he insists he never took steroids, his outstanding numbers in his old age, and his bulked up body make it difficult to believe. He may some day but i doubt on the first ballot.
badgerfan 10/09/2008
He has the numbers, but his punishment will be holding him out for a few years. They should put him, Pete Rose and Bonds in at the same time.
irishgit 09/28/2008
Seems to have done a lot to damage his chances, not so much by the steroid allegation as by his conduct after he was named. I suspect that he will eventually get in, and he has the pre-steroid stats to qualify, but the first ballot is gone, and we may even be looking at a veterans committee selection. Too bad. Original comment: First ballot selection, the only question being how high the percentage vote is. My bet is mid-nineties, one of the highest ever.

The only reason I 4 star him instead of 5 is because I have a sneaking suspicion that the Rocket and HGH/Roids are old friends. If something like that surfaces, no first ballot despite the numbers. Otherwise a no brainer.

Another obvious first ballot hall of famer.

Know any other player, not just pitcher who can play half a season and make a million dollars a start? Enough said.
jamestkirk 06/05/2006
A no-doubter. He is one of the all-time great pitchers, probably among the top three. Consistently great his entire career, and it's amazing how he remains Nolan Ryan tough at this stage in his career.
kingguiness 06/05/2006
A superb pitcher who has devised a new strategy to stick around longer. Holding out for money and playing half seasons could be a new trend for veteran star pitcehrs to keep going into their fifties.
mtbmlb 02/21/2006
One of the most intimidating pitchers of all time. The Walter Johnson of the current era.
ellis 12/16/2005
Probably one of the Top 5 pitchers in the history of the game. If the Rocket isn't first ballot, nobody is.
CanadaSucks 11/11/2005
An absolute prick, but a dead-on HOF pitcher without a doubt. . .but his whole 'tough-guy' persona is stricty a boy-wonder sportswriter's fantasy- Clemens made a career out of throwing at batters' heads because he spent so many years being protected by the DH. . .a great pitcher but nowhere near the bad-ass persona he thinks he is. ..
drbowler 11/04/2005
Clemens is one of the Greatest pitchers ever he is second in stikeouts has 341 wins and 7 Cy Youngs. If he doesn't get in the first ballot there will be rioting in the baseball world. P.S. Who called him terrible?
GenghisTheHun 11/03/2005
This man is an absolute shoo-in!
alpepper 11/02/2005
Anyone on the Hall of Fame balloting committee that does not vote him in on the first ballot should have their credentials revoked on the spot. From the context of an entire career, the only pitchers I can rank ahead of Clemens are Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, and Warren Spahn.
zuchinibut 11/02/2005
I don't see how anybody could find a reason not to vote for Clemens on the first ballot. Personal reasons seem to be the only way that a voter could not think that Clemens deserves to have everybody's vote.
