Jeff Bagwell is an easy Hall of Famer. 149 OPS+. Nearly 9500 PA. Great peak (6 years over 150 OPS+, including 4 over 160 and 1 at 213). Career .297/.408/.540/.948 line with that aforementioned 149 OPS+. 4213 Total Bases. One must remember he plays in a pitcher's park, so the Homerun Era effect has less of an affect on Jeff. 449 Home Runs. 9 times more than 30. He was a beast from '94-'00, compiling 37.7 BtWins. He was the 1994 NL MVP. 1991 NL ROY. 3 SS, 1 GG, 4 AS. 620.2 Career BtRuns with almost 60 BtWins. He's a beast, a Top Ten First Baseman ever, and a sure-fire HoFer..

Bagwell a lock.
Not a one dimensional player. Smart baserunner scoring over 100 runs for nine straight seasons. 30 HRS 100RBI for eight straight. Gold glove first baseman. The face of the Astro franchise. If not for arthritic shoulder would have but up even better statistics, not to mention astrodome was a very large park. Is not on the leaked list of steroid users. My opinion First Ballott

Managed to avoid steroid suspision for the most part.  He has great career numbers.  Its debatable he will get in.  I think it will take 3-4 years but he will.  His arthritic shoulder forced him to retire in 2006,  or else he was sure to get that magical 500 hr and be a HOF lock  He is a legend here in Houston where their is a bronze statue of him and Biggio right outside Minute Maid Park.

He is playing in a time when the ball was flying out of the park at record pace. Though he may have been clean, his numbers aren't as impressive. He will probably get in, but he was not the best of the days he played. He was never the best at his position. But, he could get in.

Bagwell will get in, maybe not first ballot, but he'll be voted in. Keep in mind that they were still playing in the Astrodome when he put up some of those big years. Good glove at first in his prime, stole a lot of bases for a first baseman, good power, and was the best  all- around National League first baseman of the 90's.

Shame that he was cut short of a still productive career due to his shoulder injury, because he was close to 500 career HR's. One of the top five players in the majors during the 90s, and he did this playing in the best pitcher's park in the majors (Astrodome). I think he belongs, but I feel the East Coast writers will consider him "borderline". If he played for the Red Sox or Yankees, his admission to the HOF wouldn't even be debateable.

Anyone who thinks otherwise must be insane. He's been the heart and soul of the organization and should get in easily. It also helps that he's a very congenial person.

Just get to 500 home runs Jeff and you'll get in. What would be great is Jeff Bagwell and Frank Thomas getting in on the same year. since they were born on the same day May 27 in the same year 1968.

I'm sure he will make it. To deny such a quality player who was loyal to his team and his fans would be terrible. He is what baseball should be and was in the old days.

Pretty solid shot, maybe even on the first ballot. Playing all those years in Houston won't have helped his chances though.

I dodn't see how you don't think that Bagwell stands out among the 1Bman of his day. He is probably the best 1bman in NL history, with a career OPS+ of over 150, and over 1500 runs scored and 1500 RBI. He'll go in easy.

Bagwell is a great player, but he doesn't stand out above the rest of the quality first baseman of his period. I think Bagwell gets in, but it might take him awhile to get the votes.
