I can't blame him. I guess it is a nice problem to have. Not many teams have the good fortune to have to worry about their whole team going pro. Like I said for Ray, do not worry about the team. We will have a down year, but people are mistaken if they think they are going to roll over us easily next year. This is Roy not Matt. They said the same things when Carter, Jamison, Williams, Ndiaye, and Okuloja all left at once, and all we did was go to the Final 4. So do what is best for you. We might have a down year, but we will be great again in 06-07. You did more thn we could possibly ask. That does not mean I want you to leave. I read that your dad said you were leaning toward staying. But we are champs, and that does not hurt recruiting if you know what I mean, so do what you want. You are definitely ready, and it would just give us one more NBA all star to claim as our own. Creating even lerss doubt about who is the best program. Stay, go, we are ecstatic either way, Marvin. Thanks.

Great year. He deserved the award. 11.5 points, 6.5 boards, in only 22 minutes a game. Aside from stats, he brought a jolt of energy off the bench all year, and worked the hardest in practice. And I just like his meanness and intensity - he plays like a possessed animal. Not to mention, he played the entire second half of the season with turf toe, which is EXTREMELY painful and hard to heal. When people look back to the year of our resurgence, Marvin choosing college over pros will be seen as perhaps the main factor. He was the missing piece (can't imagine if JR Smith had come too, and Jameson Curry hadn't messed up). Anyway, here's how the voting went for the award, 90 billion votes from sports journalist went to Marvin. 1 vote from an idiot on rateitall went to Singletary (you really know your hoops, huh?).&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&UPDATE: Why do people care so much about how many stars are given to players on this site? It's not like they're going to come on the news tonight and go, Marvin Williams received a 4 today on rateitall and jumped two spots to number 18. Who actually cares where players are ranked, besides this 'em4j67' or whoever it is? Just speaking my mind on different basketball issues. I don't give a damn if you give Marvin a 5 or a negative 43. *************************** ***************UPDATE: Yeah, emj, and my point was that anybody who is not convinced on Marvin Williams doesn't know basketball - period. Forget freshmen, some people think he's the best player in the country for pure talent.

I give him a 5 on the sheer fact that he is a freshman, and still performing up to the high standards that Roy Williams poses. He will be great, considering he's had defining moments already, and as far as I can see, he's shaking off his rookie mistakes and upping his game. If he continues his growth, he could be big... he just needs to stay all four years!!!

i dont know i'm not convinced, i think he has potential to be great but i will have to wait a little to see if i should change my rating UPDATE i forgot to say Sean Singletary is my vote for rookie of the year which is another reason I'm not giving MW a 4 or 5 ******UPDATE you-cantrunwithus hostal much? Yes i do know my hoops thank you very much. I did not come in here hating on Marvin Williams think he's good but i dont think he's great, so deal with it, i didnt come in here and give him a 1 rating. I do follow college basketball closely, with a concentration on the acc. so don't call me an idiot when you rated JJ redick a 1 and he was the only UNANIMOUS pick for all ACC. ACC MVP and ACC tournament MVP. UUUUUUUPDATE my point was not that the number of stars mattered, my point was that I did not come in here dissing this player in anyway and you were an obnoxious asshole who said that was an idiot who didnt know anything about basketball, something that couldnt be farther from the truth.

even i, a diehard duke fan, can admit that he's probably the rookie of the year, but let's chill out with predicting that he's gonna be a legend...you're counting your chickens before they hatch and i can't wait to see it come back and kick you in the butt.

Won't want a re-match against a more seasoned Kentucky defense this spring.

I agree with Rick Majerus - this is that mean, intense player we've been missing. This kid really gets after it. Man he even looked pissed off while shooting normal free throws after a normal foul, 1 MINUTE INTO THE GAME! We need that. I love this kid!

We have needed a ruthless beast like this for some time. Attacks the boards. Attacks the rim. Attacks defensively. Attacks everything - kinda like Bush. I just wish he would stay at least two seasons.

The media is already saying he is the best player on our team, and he hasn't even played yet. That is scary. He might be overhyped, but if he was going to start for an NBA team had he entered the draft, I'm sure he is ready for the ACC. The challenge will be being emotionally and mentally ready for the intensity of ACC play. Physically and talent wise, he is as ready as he'll ever be. Sean May is quoted as saying nobody could stop him in the summer pickup games which often included pros playing. That is a good sign.

Let's see what he can do against ACC athletes before we hype him up too much.
