I believe that many baseball players have been able to channel their neurotic tendencies into a successful career, even stardom. I also believe that only two players ever managed to channel their psychosis into success. One of them is Ty Cobb. The other is this guy. While he did burn out, and relatively quickly, for a few seasons he was the best definition of "unhittable" I've ever seen. Inhumanly fast, with breaking stuff that left the greatest hitters of the day frozen at the plate, he was as mean as a hung-over Hell's Angel, and about as stable. Can't go above three stars for career performance, but he was something to watch. He must have been a nightmare to dig in against.
