Drummond was right and I was wrong. I just got back from Las Vegas about 10 hours ago. My wife and I spent two days at Binion's in the downtown ("Fremont Street Experience") area. I hadn't been to LV in about 7 years. Man has it become proletarian! Not just one part either, the entire city. At every casino the working-class masses abound. The more garish and expensive the locale, the more likely they are to be wandering about. Bellagio, MGM Grand, Caesar's etc.

I'm guilty of this one. "Guilty" as in "... and a recidivist to boot!" It's a pretty working class bunch there but I like it more than Vegas. Because of the river it is cooler in the summer. It also doesn't have Vegas's sprawl. Consequently, you can walk to most casinos.
Also noteworthy about Laughlin: It's like a retirement village. Anytime I'm feeling like I'm creeping up in years, I can just head out to the southern end of Nevada and I automatically look like everybody's kid.

If entertainment is your goal, LV does fill some of the bill.
