All other players in the 600 home run club are or will be HOFers. Not to mention his incredible skills in the field which earned him 10 or so gold gloves. He absolutely dominated the 90s and he's very well liked. People see that of the non-steroid using players of the past 2 decades, he is simply the greatest there has been.

Has numbers and reputation. Nobody can hate him. If the writers love you and you backed it up on the field, you're in.

Had his career not been constrained by injuries, he would be considered the best of all-time. with the emergence of steroids as such a black eye on baseball, this guy should be seen as EVERYBODY'S hero. had he taken steroids, he would have avoided almost all of his injuries, shattered all the home run records and be considered easily the best of all-time. instead he chose not to cheat and his career has been damaged by that decision, but his legacy will ultimately soar for his integrity!

Easy first ballot. His skills have declined, but the Hall is all about career numbers. His are there. Besides, is there a baseball fan alive who doesn't love Junior? Both writers and fans agree that he's one of MLB's "good-guys".

Probable first ballot, although the decline in his skills due to injuries might deny him for an election or two.
jamestkirk 06/05/2006
Will probably enter on 1st ballot, and that's OK. Jr. could have retired after his first plague injuries took place after joining the Big Red Machine, and he would have been deserving of the HOF at that point. Griffey and Bonds were the best players of the 90s. His career during that decade qualify his HOF admittance.

Despite not being too much of a factor due to injuries with Cincinnati he should make it in. Plus, with the Reds playing well in 06 he could boost his case by staying healthy and getting the team into the postseason.
mtbmlb 02/21/2006
Although he has had a lot of injures over the years, he was great before that.
benyankeesfan 02/05/2006
Of course first ballot. He was the best hitter in baseball in the 90s and showed he can still be the best when hes healthy.
daedalus 12/31/2005
His first ten years alone were enough to make him a first ballot guy. Has struggled mightily with injuries since going to the N.L., but might have got back on track with last season. Stats are just way too strong and showed up on too many highlight reels to keep him from being a lock.
drbowler 11/04/2005
Since he was traded to the Reds his carrer went downhill but since he hit 500 homeruns he is a lock.
GenghisTheHun 11/03/2005
I think he is an eventual lock on the slot, but I think he will be punished for his attitude. His margin will be low and maybe he might even miss for a while.

Despite his anonymity in Cinncinati over the last few years, Ken Griffey Jr is still an incredible baseball player. He was the face of baseball for the 90's, and was its most talented and marketable player. His career numbers are solid, and anybody who remembers watching him play in his Mariners days should know that he is a first ballot Hall of Famer.
irishgit 11/02/2005
Will certainly go in, but possibly not on the first ballot. His injury problems and perceived attitude issues may cause some of the more curmudgeonly voters from putting him in right away.
